Note: This is feedback that rests upon several test drives without drilling down into the LAV skill tree. If you have some developped LAV skills don't hesitate to add info.
[GENERAL OBSERVATIONS]
I see few people actually using these to effect on the battlefield, save for the rare "early-game-run-towards-an-objective" and / or occasional random roadkills. Perhaps right now it's due to the relatively small size of the skirmish map, as they would probably prove more useful on a larger map GÇö given they become easier to drive around. My current view on LAVs is the same as my view on disposable razors: If left with no choice I'll use one, it's gonna do a terrible job and I won't mind trashing it after.
[DRIVING]
I feel they tend to drift way too much. They're not fun to drive, and stabilizing them to actually get somewhere is painful. The engine feels underpowered and it's hard to recover direction after jumping a hill.
[ROADKILLS]
Hitting someone full speed with these should mean instant death. Rather i end up "pushing" the standing character in front of the LAV with no apparent damage.
[WEAPONRY]
Driving these is already hard as is, shooting the autocannon while someone else is driving requires god-like skill. The militia autocannon doesn't deal a lot of damage, but stability and targeting are the worse issues GÇö you end up using these as drivable turrets, moving them around and positionning them next to cover for an eventual kill. But in doing so, you're a sitting duck for anyone passing by because of weak armor and shields.
I'd suggesting creating a SWARM launcher for these vehicles, allowing the creation of a new skill tree to gain improved / faster target acquisition. It would make LAVs more of a threat to tanks and dropships.
Another idea would be to create a rocket launcher featuring 6 or 8 unguided missiles, the sheer number allowing for eventual hits even when moving.
[SHIELDING]
Here's an idea GÇö why not bring a shielding bonus when the vehicle is not in movement ? This way it justifies using it as a hardpoint turret.
[VISIBILITY]
Driving visibility is okay but I'd say adjusting the FOV when accelerating would help the feeling of speed and sense of direction, assuming the driving wheel is fixed to be less twitchy on default controller settings.
As mentioned before, if you have anything to add, feel free to contribute ! |

I dont mean to split hairs because you do bring up some valid points but, its not an autocanon its a blaster. Dont worry in the full build the minmitar will provide us with autocanons to fit to our vehicles, and you might actually be pleased with that weapon. Try fitting small missile launchers there a fantastic anti infantry weapon and can cause light harassment to vehicles. Blasters are actually a better anti vehicle weapon currently.
I actually like the fact that currently LAV's are rather difficult to drive, I think its an added degree of realism. I have found the more I drive LAVs the better I have gotten at countering drift. Im not sure if this has anything to do with this, but maybe if you take out a more heavily armored LAV like the gallente one you might get less drift because it will have more gross weight over all. I also like the fact if some one doesnt know how to drive an lav properly I can ace them with either a well placed Remote explosive or forge gun blast
If you had a caldari lav with a nano fiber internal structure im betting you might get some more drift from that.
Yeah the current splat mechanics arent working very well, personally I think there over compensating from the previous build. |

I would say instant death to whoever you hit and damage to the LAV depending on the suit type. Hitting a 2000 kg Heavy suit should decimate the LAV. That's 2.2 short tons of metal and armor your LAV just slammed into at high speeds!
I'm all for running down infantry, but this is a realistic game and the vehicle should take damage too.
Don't agree, drive your car into a deer at 60 MPH - you probably wont survive but if you do your car will be totaled. Now image that deer covered in 2000 kg of hardened armor plates... |

Good point and makes sense to me. |

I find it annoying that my view always snaps back to the center as soon as I release the right stick when looking around while driving the LAV. It should be possible to keep your view fixed at any angle for as long as you want while driving. |

It should be possible to keep your view fixed at any angle for as long as you want while driving. This is also a reason why its hard to use remote shield modules cause the camera keeps auto centre. And i dont find it hard to drive a LAV. I can do 180 degree turns and drive instantly backwards if needed. Oh by the way i think L1 was the handbrake you can do some nasty drifts around corners. Escaped like that alot of gunfire and HAV's that where chasing me. Also with a decent missile launcher you can annoy HAV's damn good. Just keep shoting until the main turret is aiming for you and then start to drive off otherwise you are dead. |

To summarize... LAV is underpowered...
