Hi all.
Old skool gamer here, 33 years experience and I get officially paid to test at home so your lucky I decided to try this but mainly for my own persoanl benefit and WHAT A WASTE OF TIME that was!
I was trying to test it which was hard enough but what got me was that EVERY game and I mean EVERY SINGLE GAME, Spawn Campers?? On a test though, come on!!!!
Your suppose to test it, not worry about your sad cheating scores and k/d ratios.
This feels dated, old and like I was playing an early PS3 game and another thing I don't understand is why a lot of you are compairing this to COD and other games we play today?? Truly unprofessional statements from those who don't have a clue about testing.
Good luck with DUST but I will not be wasting my money on this and please don't state about it being an early days beta with 30fps, lagging issues, blah blah blah... you will not see much of a change when it's released and even if they do up the frame rate and sort other issues out, I don't think much of the gameplay at all.
Good luck but not for me!! |

Well said Sir. Could you post this in feedback though? I'm not someone who is paid to test but have similar opinions. Spawn camping was supposed to be fixed this build, being fixed again next build. Hit detection is getting better, but not fast enough.
I feel a little vindicated when a paid games tester is pointing out the same flaws. |

The fact that spawn camping can be done successfully does need to be tested. This way CCP knows it is broken and can fix spawning, which they are doing now that they see the inherent problems. Leaving because we are testing in a way you don't like says to me I don't want to hire you to test my game, when I create it (which will be never but that is beside the point...).
Also, as a veteral beta tester, I'm surprised you don't realize that this is most likely not the final version of the game and that the things you don't like (it feeling dated) are because we are playing an early version of it. The final product will most likely look differently.
I wish you luck, and thank you for leaving, since your "experience" has clearly biased you and you are unwilling to explore other possibilities.
Also, as others have said, the fact that you don't realize this game is free speaks volumes for your knowledge of the game. I strongly suspect you were just given a free key for the weekend and its expired so you are moving on. |

Oh looks its another dummy out of pram post made by someone who doesn't understand what a beta is.
I love the sudden change of tone half way through. Going from a rant to a "telling off" to the community. Throwing "unprofessional" in there for good measure. LOL.

Just because you do not experience a fun factor doesn't mean that someone else doesn't and of course all those things will be fixed sometime soon and this game has better spawning then AAA COD after how many games now? How about instead of complaining of the same stuff over and over again you give them time to fix stuff and the next big update comes in a few days if its not fixed then, then complain some more because the builds are the only updates your going to get each time. |

I honestly don't see why everyone hates it so much. Sure it has bad hit detection at times and spawns really do need fixing but have you played MW3? That has been out since November and that is much worse then this which is a beta, not to mention that black ops was pretty damn bad for hit detection and frame rate issues. Me personally I had some fun playing it this weekend because it's new it's different and it's still in Beta. When it gets full release then you can hate it as much as you want but end of the day it's still a work in progress. |

I know waiting for the builds is important. However there's no clear consensus of what people want. We know they don't want CoD/BF/MAG, but unless people start agreeing on things like spawn camping it's never going to get fixed.
Perfect example is what Protoman pointed out in the previous build. Spawn camping was more common than this map due to fixed spawns in a comparatively small compound area. The general consensus of the EvE players was that it should be part of the game. That spawn camping was somehow a valid game mechanic which should be incorporated. Protoman "won" the last beta. He spawn killed religiously until there was a change of opinion. He probably still spawn camps and well done to him for constantly showing broken mechanics from people who just don't understand what top end players are capable of. More complaining means people can try stuff out. I for example will have maxed out HAV's with my 1mil bonus SP. My gunloggi's are already pretty indestructible except via Marauder. Currently I do think they are a bit OP, but that's mostly the map, an more importantly the small missiles (most OP weapon there is) I think part of the trouble is that this is their showcase E3 build. The gameplay went stale far too quickly, and us testers are left trying to avoid other testers landing on them the second they spawn, or get exploded by RE. @Dewie Thank you for reminding me we are supposed to be testing invincible tanks, RE spam, spawning, vehicle spam and all the other bizzle. And then leave feedback (in the feedback bit) and discuss the issues in general discussion. |

There is a forum section for that. Its called the feedback subsection. If you have issues, you should state them in a calm clear manner. Not rant about it incoherently while slamming the door on your way out.
What do you think a games developer as a human being is more likely to listen to:

Thread Title: [feedback] Frame rate issue and hit detection.
Been playing for about 10 hours now. I've noticed that there is definitely fps issues that are affecting gameplay. I've been mostly playing a basic assault build. When I get into close 1v1 duels with people my shots seem to hit people but the HP bar doesn't seem to register the damage also I notice a fairly irritating slow down on graphics and texture load times during these moments. If I can narrow down the cause I'll send a bug report.
Thanks.

STOP RAGING AND MAKING BAD POSTS
All I have to say is, I think TJSeven is making some stuff up about him self, I do not think he is a game tester. Why would a real game tester take time out to try and trash talk a game in beta? I bet he has not seen any fan fest videos or the video from Keynote. Every thing he has said except the spawn camping is wrong. I believe TJSeven is just some random 14 year old who could not get the hang of this game. All I got to say to him is, that COD community.
As for Tony Calif, All i can say is gullible. "It was said on the internet, it must be true!" You are not very good at the game and all you do is cry when you die and try to trash talk on forums. This is beta, Get over it.
My view on this game is, CCP is trying to get the combat that EVE players all know and love but more often. The spawn points is not a big problem, CCP know of them and that is an easy fix. The Big problems are the abuse of the "FREE" militia vehicles. This lets players call in free drop ships to just move around and jump out of them, Thus filling up the team vehicle quota as well as using a militia drop ship to "CRUSH" players then just recalling a new one when it gets destroyed. The drop ships will not blow up in till they hit the ground giving you a lot of time to jump out and call in a new one. The draw distance, the lag time when you hit someone and seeing the shields go off and get a hit marker but not doing damage "This is really bad with the sniper rifles". The remote bomb being used as a rushing tool and some very little bugs, as getting hurt by the landscape and ect...
With all this being said, Anyone posting as a game tester or a professional should have a little more tact and information in the post they are posting. ^_^

I agree, he should post in feedback, unless he wanted to discuss the issues until they are more clear (search function). However There are a large number of similar posts and threads. Where fun factor ect are highly subjective, it is very difficult to give constructive "make it like this" and easier to say "don't make it like that". It is made even harder when we might say something from another game (starhawk spawning, MAG medic, CS recoil) we are shouted down with "This is not mag, this is not cod"
You only have to look through these forums for 10 minutes I see it.
I've kept my feedback posts to a minimum myself because I can't suggest anything which hasn't already been suggested at the moment. Hit detection, lag and spawning are the 3 most important things to be worked on, and I believe the will be fixed. But I can't watch people seriously say a well fitted marauder isn't OP while they go 20-0 game after game. (they might be OP, but they shouldn't fix em yet. I suspect crater lake would be expensive for the average tanker these days) The "it's a beta" excuse is the same thing. |
