When you upgrade a skill that relates to a weapon. Does it automatically change each weapon in every dropsuit you have or do you have to equip it? Does the skill effect both you primary and secondary weapon. For example the skill "light weapon rapid reload (2x)". If I have an smg in one dropsuit as a primary and a secondary as a pistol. Will the skill change the relaod speeds for both guns? |

An smg and pistol are sidearm weapons so no it would not effect both weapons...light skill effects light weapons. Sidearm skill then the answer is yes it will effect both. |

smg's and pistols are not light weapons, there sidearm's and can be put in a s slot. as far as i know to improve the smg , you need to improve the sidearm skills. light weapon rapid reload would effect all light weapons you use.
i do think that ccp having a smg as a sidearm weapon is a little silly, pistols should be your sidearm weapons. smg imo should be a light weapon. as having a secondary thats just as powerful as a primary is not good. |

If you read the item description, either in the market or in your 'Edit Dropsuit' fitting screen and hit triangle when the wepon is hilighted, you'll see the weapon type.
The only way to have skill bonuses apply to both slots would be to have two sidearms, say a pistol and a smg. This might work out ok, pistol would be your long-range weapon and the smg your short range/fallback weapon. Would save you on the skillpoints until you spec into AR, which is a light weapon. |

I have another question. I upgraded this skill "Sub machine gun operation (2x)" to level 4. From the description of the skill it should increase my smg damage by +5%. Will this change the damage on every smg in every dropsuit I have or do I equip this to a specific smg? |

So you do not need to re-equip, you already get the bonus by virtue of increasing the skill.

thanks Electronics is about CPU/Shield mods. Engineering is about PG/Armour mods.
Not 100%, there are other things besides shield/armour mods that are covered by each, but that's a basic idea. You could just look at the skills and their relevant sub-skills in the character sheet for that answer though. |

not 100% accurate
electronics = CPU / equipment like scanners/ecm engineering = PG/shields mechanic = armour/repair |

I'm pretty sure (although I was rushing at the time, like I said) that Engineering section includes some skills relating to armour mods, and Electronics definitely unlocks Shield skills. |

OK --- Here is the deal, and admittedly I have not read everyone's posts on this thread. The way it works is like this:
If a weapon is in the light weapon slot of the suit, it falls under said skill tree in addition to the actual skills associated to the specific weapon.
If the weapon is fitted into the side arm slot, then it would be affected by the sidearm skill and the correctly correlated weapon skill tree.
