So,
Why do I auto train skills? I love the time based system in eve. This seems like a less enjoyable version of the same system. It also makes the matches incredibly annoying... fighting to gain skill makes this like every other FPS I've played in the last couple of years. I would have thought that the appeal would be you can gain skill by having a character whether you play or not? Is this the trade off of FTP...?
Making money. I'm much less inclined to spend money on equipment when I make 100K a match. In Eve I PVP because I have the money to do so. I could consider this an alt and potentially pump money in to him when EVE goes live, but that seems kind of pointless. There should be something I can do to make some cash. The game loses all of it's appeal when I'm trying to balance these resources out. I would do other things here to earn money if it meant I wasn't on a ration card when it came to matches.
In general the matches are small with elite groups of soldiers? Instanced matches vs. a world... I feel like I'm playing quake 3 arena or halo 3. The level of strategy in this compared to something like (the original) planetside is miniscule. It doesn't feel like I'm an elite soldier fighting for resources. It feels like I'm grinding towards a skill book I want to buy. I have no sense of story/accomplishment/interest in where I'm fighting.
In general, if this game = arena combat + eve fitting then it has little appeal. A persistent world and owning parts of planets... anything but que up for match and try to make more money than you spend. |

I agree with the lack of feel and strategy involved currently. I think a large amount of strategy in the final version will actually come from EvE corps. It will improve hopefully. It's extremely difficult and subjective to say why something doesn't feel right. I am struggling to explain it myself. The money side of things should be fine especially once PvE is added. Group PvE is something I am really looking forward too. Militia Madness!!! Also, advanced equipment seems quite reasonably priced currently. Proto can cause serious losses, I myself lost 1.5mil in a single game running Proto gear. Really bad game that one, and I'll remember it. Best thing is now to wait until next build tbh. |

Ive played EVE and I prefer this games skill system to EVEs. EVE is a great game, but it takes ridiculously long times to train some skills. Id much prefer playing and improving my character because I played vs. queueing a skill and logging off 2 weeks while it trains. EVE rewards Veteran players by keeping them ahead of everyone else as long as they keep their account active. This game rewards you for actually playing. So I prefer the skill system in this game.
As for money don't die so much. Ive played for about 3 days and have managed to save 1M more than I started with because I don't die every 2 seconds. This isn't a run and gun game so don't do it. Matter of fact the same rule applies here as it does in EVE, If you can't afford to lose it, don't bring it to the fight. Therefore, if you die 10x every round and can't make enough money to replace your suits and advace, run a free militia suit.
Also, it's in BETA, and as for lack of story oh well...why does everyone need a damn story to play a game. You're a merc, your whole goal in life is to kill and make money..there's the beginning of your story. You get to finish it however you want. Where you fight and who you fight for is your choice. |

I disagree as I play eve as well and prefer Dust 514's method of skilling vs eve online.
Things in Dust are ridiculously cheaper then Eve, isk isn't a problem and I die alot so I'm always spending isk on suits and I have mostly proto gear minus the suit and nades so ya.
The reason you don't feel like an elite soldier fighting for resources is because it's a freaking beta bro, all the things that will make this game great are SOON Tm. Right now we are here to test mechanics, suits, modules, gameplay etc... The story, fighting for resources all that jazz cannot be implemented until Eve Online and Dust 514 merge and become one.
What the hell were you expecting coming into a beta? |

1. what works in EVE wont always work for a FPS 2. u are judging strategy when we are playin basically hisec pick up games? when the MCC, planetary conquest and fw/nullsec where u actually fight over systems arent even in yet? not very smart tbh |

Beta, agree. I don't expect a complete game.
I would expect that the core we see here would mimic the complete game. Perhaps falsely.
Still the combat itself and the tactics seem hollow. I do see command and installation items on the overview... perhaps We'll see when that flushes out. |
