Why do I auto train skills? I love the time based system in eve. This seems like a less enjoyable version of the same system. It also makes the matches incredibly annoying... fighting to gain skill makes this like every other FPS I've played in the last couple of years. I would have thought that the appeal would be you can gain skill by having a character whether you play or not? Is this the trade off of FTP...?
Making money. I'm much less inclined to spend money on equipment when I make 100K a match. In Eve I PVP because I have the money to do so. I could consider this an alt and potentially pump money in to him when EVE goes live, but that seems kind of pointless. There should be something I can do to make some cash. The game loses all of it's appeal when I'm trying to balance these resources out. I would do other things here to earn money if it meant I wasn't on a ration card when it came to matches.
In general the matches are small with elite groups of soldiers? Instanced matches vs. a world... I feel like I'm playing quake 3 arena or halo 3. The level of strategy in this compared to something like (the original) planetside is miniscule. It doesn't feel like I'm an elite soldier fighting for resources. It feels like I'm grinding towards a skill book I want to buy. I have no sense of story/accomplishment/interest in where I'm fighting.
In general, if this game = arena combat + eve fitting then it has little appeal. A persistent world and owning parts of planets... anything but que up for match and try to make more money than you spend.
I disagree as I play eve as well and prefer Dust 514's method of skilling vs eve online.
Things in Dust are ridiculously cheaper then Eve, isk isn't a problem and I die alot so I'm always spending isk on suits and I have mostly proto gear minus the suit and nades so ya.
The reason you don't feel like an elite soldier fighting for resources is because it's a freaking beta bro, all the things that will make this game great are SOON Tm. Right now we are here to test mechanics, suits, modules, gameplay etc... The story, fighting for resources all that jazz cannot be implemented until Eve Online and Dust 514 merge and become one.
What the hell were you expecting coming into a beta? |
