Pretty much everything the other team owns can be hacked except for their nanohives, drop uplinks, and their own dropsuits (heh i just wish i could hack a suit with some sucker in it - make him suicide...) >:)
Some poor sap leave his tank just laying around? Hack and repo that sucker! Bam! its now yours. (this has happened, a tanker jock without gunners hopped out to hack the supply depot and got pasted, then I hacked his tank and gunned for a pro driver for most of the remaining match time.

When I aim at someone, its like I hardly hit them at all and they kill me in just a matter of seconds. I guess this is just no my thing. Compared to the players that get 20+ kills to just a handful or less deaths, I am completely useless. Quite depressing.
A few things:
Hit detection is buggier than a bait shop right now, so it does affect your shooting.
Players who have been in this beta longer and/or play for longer periods skill up faster due to grinding, and their gear is superior to yours.
Try out different roles, use your three character slots like a cheap ***** - find what works or appeals to you.
I can't pilot a dropship to save my life, but my niche and contribution is in deployments and support. I'm in my forties in real life, so my reaction time is not as fast as it used to be, but I 'get' trajectory and ballistic weapons like the mass driver (and spent several years in three different Tribes series games playing heavy mortar offense and defense, lol.) I play to my strengths, and went positive on my match kd/r several times today with just the mass driver launcher.. (beaned a sniper on one of the buildings in skirmish with a mass driver grenade, lol.)
You'll find your niche.
At the end of the game, though, its who controls the most objectives who wins the match - as long as you are trying to contribute (more than can be said for some players) then you are not useless. |

I like gunning for a good gunner or pilot. Tip: your driver/pilot is giving you a hint when they land or come up to an enemy held objective or item - jump out and hack that sucker!
In dropship ideally (IMO) someone who is not gunning, but is along for the ride, should hop out to do the hack job. In a tank if it has a full crew then the bow hull gunner should be the one to do it, while the driver/tank commander and the top secondary gunner cover them.
If im the bow hull gunner on a tank i'm always the one who hops out and does the hack (of course, if there's another friendly around they sometimes hop in the tank as soon as i get out to hack, lol.
Keep an eye on the shield and armor readout of your vehicle - if its gonna blow then time to get out of dodge and clear of the vehicle, especially if the vehicle cant get to safety to repair, be aware! ;) |
