Just wondering because the comments on there are pretty, Pretty negative, and leads me to wonder if CCP has opened the flood gates to the masses a bit to early. After all one cannot deny that what they say is sadly true, poor graphics, poor mechanics, poor map, (IMO, the current build was a step down) but this game does, as I've said for the past year, has the potential to be one of the biggest games on PS3 if it's done right, and I have to say, I really am starting to worry. I know that most of the more unique features to this game have yet to be opened. Close knit clan features, tactical and stretigic warfare, and interaction with your loathsome EvEers. (joke )
So, has Anyone else read through the articles and comments, and if you have, what do you make of them. Also, I know how little respect you guys have for ign, yet one cant Say they have little influence in the gaming community, and a lot of them have been in the bata, so, what do all of ye think? |

i think that a vocal minority of the beta testers don't realize that they're beta testers, under nda, this is a work in progress, not for review as it says every time you play the game. |

Most people are used to the idea of betas as a way to sell the game, and not as a way to objectively provide feedback. |

The biggest problem, as it stands right now, is that some gamers appear to have been conditioned to believe that a "beta" of a game is representative of the "final product", which is not at all true. Because of this, there are even players nowadays that willfully and knowingly (emphasis on the word "knowingly") disregard the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that they accepted once they logged into the closed beta just for the sole purpose of posting what they see on YouTube and calling the game a piece of **** long before the game even has a chance to fully materialize. We already had several such instances on YouTube which has the potential to harm future development of the game.
Also, never trust IGN. They're in bed with EA. |

This drives me nuts how people can truly give any opinion about the final build of the game when it is not here yet, Damn people this is a BETA for testing and fine tuning. The graphics suck, the balancing sucks, etc, etc, etc. So sick of hearing it, We the true fans know what a BETA is for so everyone else quit ******* whining or go back to COD. |

I think there are 2 things to draw from this. Firstly the current build was the wrong one to let IGN play. Because of E3 everyone expected more than they got. Last build was CLEARLY a beta. The game works now. If they crashed every 3 games they wouldn't have had time to get a proper opinion :) Secondly, if you let people in on a temporary basis, expect NDA to mean LoLwut? |

most thing by IGN are very negtivie in fact its only the major AAA titles that tend to have adverts on the sites that good anything out of IGN, the big boys are worried of Dust 514 works it will change market forever and big slugish firms like Activtion dont like change as its expensive, so dont take much stock in IGN |

That's my point that others here don't get, the fact that this is a beta doesn't matter to these people, the fact ign are in activisions bed doesn't matter, popular Opinion does, and it's easy to see that these people have let it out, and a lot say dust sucks, which to anyone with an iq of 110 up will tell you is untrue, yet these comments (not "reporters") have been quite vocal about how they find this game, which will hurt its image in The minds of those wo see them. (BTW, a lot were also complaining about the community, lol) |

Flame away. I have the right to an opinion. It's a limited beta. We've only seen a fraction of the available items. We've only seen one race's version of each dropsuit type, and none of the command or pilot suits. We've seen no laser rifles at all, and I'm willing to bet we'll see more of all the other weapon types. Modules are currently very limited. We've seen no hardeners or anything. We've only seen, what, 3 different maps with 2 different modes each? And that's all on one planet type. We haven't seen how map preparation (setting up defenses, calling down turrets, etc) is going to work. We haven't seen how contracts are going to work. We don't even know how DUST will impact sov. This is a very small glimpse of the game to come. This beta isn't what other companies like to call a "beta" these days; They'll call something a beta when it's really just an early release for people that pre-order. This beta, however, is actually designed for us to test, find glitches, and break the game to help game balance. |

Yeah, to be honest i don't really understand why they are doing these temporary access "beta weekend" events. It would be one thing of the temp access folks were playing on a separate server, where they could play and learn the ropes together in relative equality. However, for some inexplicable reason CCP decided it was a good idea to throw a bunch of rank newbies in with a bunch of beta vets who had been super accelerated to something like 3-4 months progress in just a few weeks.
So in addition to having to deal with the unfinished mechanics, they're getting curbstomped for 4 days by hundreds of players with more experience and better gear. It can't make for a very good game play experience, and if CCP was looking use this for some positive PR i don't think it's going to do the job. |

-facepalm- reread above you,
but that's irrelevant anyways you can't download on most games 99% of the time while playing. |

LoL, totally agree, one should have to actually accomplish something as a show of faith in the game first, though it could of been the fact that the threads were so negative |

I think it's because they're trying to "stress" the load on their server so they need as many people as possible. But yeah, the "temporary" part is a bit puzzling.
Overall, even if CCP were to allow us to spill the beans about the beta in a professional point of view from the vets who know better, the court of public opinion will ignore all that and still assume that what they saw in the YouTube videos is final.
If those people are willing to believe anything posted on the internet without checking the sources and too ego-centric to think they might have misunderstood anything, then I don't want those people playing Dust. Dust is for intelligent people. You know, those who actually HAVE a brain. |

Yep, the game is pretty horrible presently, in beta, if you want to call it that. What worries me is that in order to make this game pass a Metacritic of about 80% they would need 2 more years of active development, QA, and polish.
I say Dust 514 November of 2013, early 2014. The design is there, but the mechanics are still WAY off the mark. |

I agree, it was definitely way too early to open the flood gates.
This comment basically sums it up. Today's gamers' vocal minority tends to be the impatient spoilt type, especially those who post around IGN and Gamespot, among other game review websites.
The true reviews would be in community websites such as Reddit, but unfortunately thats not where most people get their information.
It was a bad move and CCP has to really wow the public on release, otherwise these early comments could plague it for a very long time. |
