Shooting the MCC is indeed pointless, maybe they're just trolling? As for the not shooting part, draw distance could be a culprit here, as a gunner I spend more time shooting at enemy indicators than actual enemies. From a dropship perspective they appear to be quantum particles, popping in and out of existance as they please, those rotten bastards.
edit: It's also easy to lose faith in dropship pilots in general, often when I try to spawn in a dropship the pilot just parks on a tower and gets out nanoseconds before I'm about to enter the game, forcing me to go through another countdown timer. If that doesn't happen I find myself spawning in a flaming ball of fire, highly entertaining but also disheartening. |

After a flying succesfully for a while you should get some sort of badge next to you name so people could know you're a qualified dropship pilot. |

It would be better to link it to the pilot suit, which when they become available will be the marker of a serious flyer. It would be good to have some kind of visual clue if a Pilot-suit was in control of a Dship from outside the ship though - maybe a small wing icon to indicate this somewhere?
Yeah that's true, but any noob could get a pilot suit, so you'd still need some kind of skill level indicator to know if you have a good pilot. Like this;
* = beginner ** = average *** = skilled **** = expert
Unless there's an initial skill requirement to even get the suit, I'm not aware if this is the case. |

I've been using the default dropship and doing reasonably well, about to have the funds to build a decent drop sans papertank. As this thread seems to be visided by dropship aficionados, what are you looking for in a dropship? Spawn/no spawn? What turrets? Recommend me a fit? =)
As a gunner I have to say with spawn, I've rarely seen dropships come down for pickups once they're flying, just for squishing or on fire. And missileturrets, more damage, damage is good. |
