I can't even count the number of times I've seen a player call in a dropship and even though I'm right next to it and running towards it to get in, it just took off without me at full speed. I've seen this happen with LAV's and HAV's as well. The driver gets in and just runs off.
Stop this! Dropships used as gunships need a minimum of 3 players on board. Tanks need 3 players to be able to defend themselves (and no matter what you tell me, the turrets on a tank are DEFFENSIVE and NOT offensive) and LAV's need at least 2 players to fulfill their roles. If you use LAV's as transports (ex. Getting a person to an objective fast and dropping him off) they need a full crew of 3 players. Dropships can have a full crew of 7 players! That's 1 piloting, 2 more defending/offending and another 4 dropping out when needed at objectives or to take out immediate threats.
So why am I seeing so many players just using these vehicles as disposable one-way rides? Are you mad?? When you get your vehicle and nobody wants to get in, go ahead and run off. But give them a chance first. I even go as far as chasing people with my dropship just to get them in. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
But come on! At least give 1% of your thought towards what you're doing. Most people just make no sense to me. |

I have not. That's bad. I do sometimes try nudging people into getting it. I stop beside them and push them slightly. Think of it as a HUGE dog face demanding attention. |

Funny thing is, he was calling out enemies and was doing a really good job letting me know where people were coming from. I still think it is a crap tactic, but god damn was I enjoying his help. If you're up there just firing away with no mic, GTFO If you're up there just firing away with a mic calling out enemy positions, you nooblet, but thank you If they're being useful, good for them. But they shouldn't be pilots. They should be passengers. I can easily imagine a squad starting a match in a dropship the drops them off on towers and leaves them with drop uplinks and nanohives. That way they can be self sufficient, renewable and deadly while not costing the team a vehicle. |

Cant tell me using it as a taxi is of no use. As for the K/D ratio it means nothing to me its all about winning and having fun doing it.
Also i has a mic for in game and outa game coms and always try to get my team to win so your preaching K/D whor at the wrong guy buddy. Alright, I'll bite. So you spawned your super-duper flying fortress and took off alone. You landed at a tower, got out and left a drop uplink. Great. But now what do you do? You're stuck in a dropship with two unmanned guns and are basically flying bait. That is, until you either ditch it or lose it to just continue running around with the rest of them.
Did this get any team objectives completed? Very slightly. You fielded a flying fortress to run an errand.
So no. I don't think you're acting in the best interest of your team. You should wait and pick up a crew. Then you can run off dropping any uplinks you want to drop and continue helping your team by being a good pilot. |

I am afraid that if I jump into one of your dropships that you are gonna run off on one of your exploring runs deep in the Red Zone....lol j/k.....I might never get home! You'll get home. In a body bag...
When I go off exploring it's the only time I take off fast not letting anyone on board. I don't want to see their faces when they figure out where the dropship's going. It'll be like "OMG WTF is the pilot doing?!?! We'll die!" and then "I can't jump out, I'll die. But I can't stay here, I'll die. Oh look at the beautiful valley!".
On second thought, maybe I will take passengers with me. |

Stop this! . I'm ony using the drop ships as 1-man "taxis" because people have this wonderful idea that if the pilot gets out, then the ship is free for whomever wants it, even if that pilot runs around planting equipment. (Drop links, nano hives, re or something like it) I'm doing what more should, make non fixed spawn and rearm points. The Dust community has to evolve. I'm fine with keeping the 12 year olds but we really have to get rid of their mentality. I understand your reasoning and would probably do the same. The thing is, it's not up to you to plant stuff. You should keep the ship in the air and others should get out and plant stuff. So yeah, you're moving the game along and helping your team win. Others need to be as educated as you.
Keep up the good work. I just think your passengers should get out and do their jobs. |
