As a dropship pilot (Eryx, top tier shield gear, proto small launchers) I do get why people spawn and instantly summon a dropship, it's because nearly 1/2 the attacking team does the same thing, with militia vehicles to save on walking.
If too many vehicles get summoned, you hit a cap for your team and have to wait a while until someone has their vehicle killed before you can pull yours in. So, if people are not wanting to wait a few minutes, they pull it down ASAP even if that means risking their teammates getting squished.
I've had a some people squished by my ships, and perhaps one or two were because they just spawned and didn't have a chance to look around, but I suggest always looking around you for dropships or other vehicles coming down in spawn, especially when you're just starting the game and everyone's pulling down vehicles.
Now that I realize this happens, I always try to move out of the way before getting my ride, but just thought I'd share why this happens. Rarely is it intentional, and some of the times it could have been prevented if they kept an eye out for vehicles incoming.
Squishing enemies though, now that's just good fun. I squish and get squished all the time. ;) It's an everyday occurance on towers and high places. Just gotta be observant and a good listener. |

I agree that dropships killing teammates at spawn should be fixed, and it should with the fixes to spawning, I hope.
But complaining about getting run over or squished by vehicles is like complaining about getting knifed or shot by a scout when you're a heavy. It's just part of the game.
When dropship pilots get a vehicle with their own gun, you'll have the opportunity to complain about that as well, because more will be doing that than mucking about trying to squish things.

If you have Militia dropships all over the sky, you have people on your team not doing AV. Un-upgraded vehicles are very fragile when shot at. I encourage people to shoot at them when upset about them. ;)
I think the core issue is people don't want to be the guy who is good at AV, not that they're so difficult to take down. |
