I played a little bit of EVE several years back, so I know that it can rain ISK if you know what you're doing, but what sort of returns do EVE players get from funding our battles? Are they obtaining resources from the districts and planets we will be winning for them? If we're talking about conflicts over districts and planets that could span for days, that sounds like it could get very pricey very quickly. |

Yes. PI materials are usually refined and refined further, and in the end produce T2 goods. For example, construction blocks (obtained from PI) are used in hulk construction.
It is quite lucrative, and easy money on the side if you're not manufacturing.
In nullsec especially, alliances will pay well to keep the decent PI planets to keep their production lines going. |

As this poster said it isn't a return in ISK that goes directly into their bank accounts but instead by dumping enough ISK into mercs in DUST they will be able to maintain possession of valuable resources.
The closest and almost spot on examples i can think of in the real world would be blood diamonds and oil. People die every day protecting ownership or trying to take ownership of these two resources. They aren't exactly pulling hundred dollar bills out of the ground but what they are doing is maintaining control over territory that potentially can make them billions if not trillions in the long run.
For these reasons, don't be surprised that a powerful corp dumps 500million isk or more a day into a specific planet they are trying to protect or gain sovereignty.
As much as people think its unfair that powerful corps can bully a single side out of what should be their win by just throwing ISK at it, it would be even more unfair for that corp to lose their planet because they weren't allowed to protect it however they see fit. |

Great info all around, thank you all! I figured it must be lucrative in some way, otherwise what would be the point. I have been out of the EVE loop for so long (and when I did play I was mostly running NPC missions) so I'm trying be informed as to what I will be contributing to the universe on the Dust side. Thanks again! |

Since the incursion nerf there has been a slight decrease in isk injections. The Drone goo nerf raised mineral value and subsequently ship prices substantially.

Many people who play Eve don't understand because they have never left hisec space let alone ventured into null sec. It was a good question and if more people understood why the battles in Dust will be important to Eve they would know if this game was truly for them or not. The games not even out of beta and people want to make null sec battles an MLG circuit game which it shouldn't and won't ever be.
Sorry for the tangent, glad i could help a bit lol. |

I have another question now about game pacing. Will there be some form of quick engagements to accept or do all of these battles have to be planned out before engaging? The reason I ask is because during the week when I only have an hour or two to give I would like to be able to hop in and go, similar to how it works in the beta. However, on weekends when I would have more time I would love to get into the large scale battles. |

Considering most alliances have hundreds of billions... about... several trillion overall... a lot like the world economy... go figure |
