Sorry if this has been posted already.Sorry if this has been posted already. Read Ina thread somewhere.... Lead to me wanting this in game:
Basically, you can take gear. You'd grab it and it would go into your inventory (not on your man.) and you could swap gear around with your fellow corp mates, sell it, or save it for a later time. It would add another level to the game. Things wouldn't just "disappear" That said, anyone could loot this body. And said body would only remain for so many minutes.. So if you chose to be nice and not loot... The dead player could go back and grab his stuff. Or a team mate could take it. Of course, this grabbing of things would have to take some time. You'd be shuffling around In someone's suit for gods sake. Thoughts? Amendments? Alternate ideas?
Terrible idea? Maybe!
Below are Amendments, Further Ideas, And other systems that could perhaps work in this way. Im aware of the "salvage" concept, but I feel this might be a more interesting element, instead of an Insta Get button.
AMENDMENT ONE: Method of returning item to ship: Gear that could be thrown down as an uplink to a ship. Acts much like a respawn point. Limited time, can be destroyed.
IDEA ONE: Idea that is similar to current system:
SGS Nightmare wrote:How about a salvage ship? Like a drop ship but has salvagers on board, maybe at the end of the match, the team that has won will get to savage either the dead bodies or maybe the structures or vehicles that were destroyed during the match?
Further Detailing (Ideas.) -You would need to spec into it to improve your ability to send items into space Level 1- Small Items, No guns, Shortened Spawn time Level 2- Light Guns Level 3- Medium Level 4- Heavy Level (? top level) - SOME Dropsuits (? Maybe), Spawn time dependent on how much stuff your are sending. Your specing up the power of the uplink you are able to put down. - When you are carrying the gear your movement speed should be slowed with relation to what your carrying.... I dunno. :s this seems like a very large game mechanic to do realistically. |

I don't like the idea of people taking time out of a match to sit around looting gear. I would rather see at the end of the match what ever team wins gets loot from the battle from the post match salvage screen. It would just have all the players that died have a chance to drop working equipment, or parts that can be collected and used to build gear at a later date. Makes a win that much more valuable to a team, and gives players another source of income separate of EVE. |

I like the idea.
What I want to know from CCP is the loot vs Salvage... That should be both as interesting as the other. |

I don't like having every player able to loot...how would you explain carrying around extra items/gear/weapons...?
I do like the option of having a looting skill & module...so your logi (or anyone else who skills up but likely logi) could use an equipment slot that would allow them to loot bodies. You could skill this up and increase the "size" of you loot. Ex: a level 1 loot could grab either a single item or 2 small items and a level 5 could grab a whole bunch of stuff...
The issue I see with staying true to the game is how do you get this looted stuff back to your "stash" perhaps they would need to include that simply looting a body allows you to pick up and then you have to run and drop it off some where...this would be great for people who like driving LAVs |

Salvaging will be put in sometime before/at release. We don't know what it's going to include, though. |

Perhaps the time spent is putting down a port type thing to send the item up to the ship? It could be something logistics carry and put down at a high cost? Idk.
I'm glad this didn't get flamed to death! Yaya! |

It is likely salvage will already be included in some way. Just considering looting in game as an alternative. At least that is my impression.

Correct impression is correct. :/ I think a plain old Salvage is boring. Actually having to remember to pick stuff up is more interesting. |

If you have not noticed when you are done with a match and it show you how much SP and ISK you earn it will have a little box in the left corner saying salvage so you will get items at the end of the match.(might be bonus ISK though)

Aware of this. :/ I find it boring. It takes away one possible thinking/sandbox element. |

We don't know anything about HOW salvage will be implemented yet, though.
You can't say you find it boring when it might be exactly what you're asking for.
I'm hoping we can only get salvage on things we actually salvaged - getting to an enemy before the nanites destroy their stuff, or hacking and stealing their vehicle = tagged for salvage rights. |

Looting is pretty much the same concept as salvaging.. You would go over to a dead body, and take whatever useful things they have on them. However, getting a dropsuit as loot wouldn't be logical. Think about it, you just mowed somebody down with your hefty HMG, chances are, their dropsuit is shredded, and you probably don't want it. |

Looting in the middle of a battle makes little sense. likely ccp will just tally up the items used in the battle and divvy up a certain percentage of those to each member on the winning team. so you may get back a few of those creodron AR's you used as salvage, or some that the enemy lost when you killed them. Something to that effect seems likely. To actually manually salvage them from the bodies seems less likely though |

In EvE, looting is taking modules off the wreck(some survive, some don't, random chance). Salvaging in done with a special module, and is taking bits of the wrecked ship itself. These are used to make rigs, basically ship customization. they had a benefit, and a penalty that was reduced by a skill in using that type of rig. No idea if CCP are doing same in dust or if salvage will be something else.
Could be a module for looting/savaging. A nanite injector that kills instead of revives, but prevents the body vanishing. Gear can be collected after battle by winner, or corpse retrieved somehow. EvE had specific laws about who had rights to loot, same universe so dust would share these, salvage was free for all. |

EVE has looting and salvaging and both have their time and place. I think that some battles are going to last a lot longer than what we are seeing here. To me the name of the map says how log it will last. Ambushes and skrimishes are short lived. If your team is winning and advancing some people will scavage and some will loot while others advance the front line. In larger maps with different objectives there will be times to salvage. A salvager uses a weapon's slot in EVE. |

Looting ain't gonna happen. All dropsuits have auto-destruct nanites which chew up everything once the owner is killed. That's exactly to prevent other mercs from getting your stuff and using it against you |

Perhaps have vehicles not dissappear from the map after their destruction in the sense that a dropship equipped with salvagers could salvage that wreckage. And then the wreckage either dissappears after salvaging or stays on the map until the end of the match for added cover. |
