Lets stop with all the stereotypes please.
Not all fps players are e peen stroking CoD kiddies that won't be able to comprehend a complex fps. Some are but not all.
Not all eve players can't aim on console and camp in pink dropships all game. Some do but not all.
So let keep the ignorance to a minimum. I'm tired of being called a console kiddie when I have 1000s of hours put into mmos and fps. |

I still see several references to "Scrubs", most of these clearly coming from the CoD players - they have the heaviest "nerf Them buff Me" attitude here on the forums.
The EVE players are in here sometimes, and they are often the ones yelling at the "console kiddies".
Then there are the MAG players, they are the strategists that are commonly trying to solve strategic issues.
I think the MAG players and the EVE players are going to get along the best, and the CoD players are going to scream and shout about how much everything is to OP until they begin to understand the sandbox and how it works.
I say give it another 6 months, the major groups will start to merge at some point, and as the beta grows, the groups will blend more and more. |

I disagree. The CoD players aren't used to the type of gameplay that Dust has to offer. They are used to the type of game where every situation is balanced, the only thing that really matters in the race to victory is the guy with faster and more accurate twitch aiming. Having a long range sniper to take out the most dangerous infantry is a necessity in CoD, or having a dropship pilot using a mobile spawn to get Mercs in and out of the hotspots isn't important, because in CoD, the maps are so much smaller, everything is done on foot.
CoD players in mass on foot will out do another team that is unorganized and also on foot. But take a strategic team from MAG, that is practiced with roles in the battle, and they will be outdone. I am putting my money on the MAG Corps to be the dominating force in the world of Dust.
This is all assuming that no one has any contacts in EVE for these battles. A group of CoD players calling in Orbital Bombardment on a team of MAG players with no EVE support, and I would be willing to bet on the CoD players.
I would really like to see the playerbase take full advantage of the sandbox and how it works, and get rid of all these damn stereotypes. But as it stands, the community will remain split for a while.
It's also very easy to tell who you are playing with in game, when people are using the comms. CoD players "HOW THE ****!? THAT GUY IS HACKING OMG SCRUB". MAG players "Alright we need support over at B and we have to take out that dropship up on the north east tower. Who's got a Sagaris and who's got a Forge Gun?". :) |

We're talking about two different groups of COD players. The competitive COD player base that plays MLG/GB/COD Elite is completely different from the players found in pubz. The competitive COD community never gets enough credit and people honestly shouldn't sleep on them. They'll be as competitive if not more completive than the MAG community or any other community coming to this game. |

The issue isn't whether or not they use some team base gameplay rather than worrying about personal KDR, the issue is that the play style is simply, different. The use of vehicles and control points and even points of strategic value that vary from the actual A, B, C, control points. It's very different from CoD, regardless of competitiveness. |

Look up the rats clan. They are a GB/MLG CoD team that also dominates on BF3 with great tactics. They can adapt and if they were to come to dust they would adapt here just fine.

People are always going to play for personal stats in pubz. Your discrediting the competitive COD community by using the general experience found in pubz. |

You know nothing about COD. The difference between a professional FPS player and the average player has nothing to do with KDR, reaction timing, or even the balance of weapons. There is a lot more strategy and securing vital areas of the map (even if the objective isn't there) than there is twitch shooting at a competitive level. To be a professional you must adapt instantly to the pace of the game and work well with a team. There are thousands of players who have borderline aimbot shooting skills but there are only a few pro's. The difference isn't in their skill with a weapon but instead the mental aspect of the game. |

The way the gamemodes work aren't that important... It's the importance of vehicle warfare and the use of the map such as the towers on Plateaus. It's also about specialization in different roles and team diversity. I just don't see CoD players being the dominant force in Dust at this point. Besides, players that are "Competitive Professionals" in CoD will probably stay in CoD. |

If you think these things are complicated then you must have a small I.Q. Vehicles aren't anything new and foreign. Vehicles are in CoD and have been and people are pretty quick at how to use them and how to destroy them. And cheap things like the towers on Plateaus just aren't going to work in a real clan battle, they just aren't. And if you've ever seen a CoD clan match you would see how people play different strategic roles during the match, you won't see that in a pub game because it's a pub game...
I don't even play CoD but to say it doesn't really transfer over at all it stupid. Dust is pretty much like every other shooter out there, whether you admit or not, just with worse controls. |

Oh my lord. Thank you for the good laugh. I always seem to laugh aloud whenever someone brings up MLG, GB, or anything they believe to be "competitive". Especially when people call themselves or others pro. What a riot of laughter.
Keep it up. I love when people defend it. Let me just grab some popcorn, and a soda.
How I really feel abou the issue. Not worth my time when it comes to tweens and their oh so precious MLG (Majorly Loud Griefers) and how pro they think they, or others are. You give gamers a bad reputation. Infact I'd probably categorize you along the same lines as the gnome sitting somewhere in Korea farming gold for USD and the morons whom waste money on farmed gold.
