The secret is to use the fortifications, a powerful player advantage. Placing them early on protects your territory until someone gets enough land to build tanks, and tanks are easy since the NPCs almost always put them on the front, allowing you to cut off their supply lines. Additionally forts allow you to focus on expansion, meaning you can afford the grasshopper tank thing by that time if you're feeling it, though I only very seldom bother with them as infantry are the most cost effective for assaulting/claiming/breaking up rival enemy territory, which is basically essential around the endgame. The only thing is that the forts don't stack, which you think they would, however if they did they would be really OP.... Anyway for a quick victory I always like to play map 4. It's by far the easiest and I think the smallest.

I agree with the forts strategy. It's what I usually do, the AI will then invariably send their big units straight at your fort, then you just cut them off. No upkeep is OP.
