In the beginning of Dust I made alot of careless choices with race, I basically chose whichever had the coolest logo. I recently found out that they unlock different things.. Why didnt the devs explain this better? |

the only things that matter is one of the the 3 roles you pick after you pick your race, like the enforcer |

The race is for roleplaying purposes only. The starting class chooses which three or so skills start at level one. |

I think the race gear for the most part are not in yet, if you look at the skill books for vehicle they have ones for each race few other item types also hint at this. If they follow the Eve online each race will favor a type of repair and weapon systems, Now again if it's like Eve your starting race gives you a slight head start but the beauty is you can go any route you want once you get going. |

Ok so go to the Eveonline wiki and look at how skills work. Now go back to dust and look at said items and look at said skills required to use those items.
Now you have a complete understanding of why they didn't explain it because this game was made for Eve players. |

Race will only change the look of your character when they allow us to customize the look of our merc.
And the pics we use on forums and our info card in game will change with the look of the merc.
that's the only thing it changes. |

Better question people should be asking is why size matters |

Lol? This game is not "made for EVE players". It was made to introduce new types of players into New Eden. If it was made for EVE players it would've been launched on PC, as quite obviously, EVE players don't play on a console. The reason the skills work the same, is because this game is made to be an alternative portal into the New Eden universe, and that is how things work in New Eden. The idea is to have the overall world work the same way, with a different type of gameplay. |

WTFrag, is the Jesus you speak of?
I don't believe in fairy tales.
P.S. Minmatar is the best race.

As stated by others as well, race does matter a little, if only for the initial gear and skills. If you prefer shield tanking, go for Caldari, as you'll get the initial SP's focused on that, If armour is your thing, it's Gallente.
Same for the three initial roles.
However, none of that matters greatly in the long run, most do some cross training to make best use of their own fits.If you chose Caldari Enforcer, you are not stuck being in a shield tanking enforcer, in DUST you can always change the role by training the skills for it. |

You are wrong, the race doesen't influence skills, only the starting "specialization" you choose affect them. the sniper gets shield and sniper rifle skills the assault guy gets grenade and nanohives skills the at guy gets armor and swarm launcher skills |

Races do have favorite type of gear in Eve
So if Dust follows suit if I wanted to be a Logistics that focus on shield repair I train Caldari suits, there are hints of this in some of the vehicles right now.

Currently I believe you are correct, if you choose enforcer, all races will start with same shield and armor for their enforcer. However, that may change in future releases of the beta and/or final release...

Race has no meaning in EVE and DUST. Your character can learn all skills of all races. The only advantage is that you get these levels free for your race, and you have to use skillpoints for other races items if you want to use them. |

Races dosent matter. Whatever te little advantage you get at start they will be rapidly offset in the short term because we will end trainign a lot of stuff more.
Race = looks and roleplay.
And in dust case, if we only get the suits and no real avatars, not even the looks we will get. |

Your not getting what I am saying Eve the races them selves like types of weapons and defense system
Like most Caldari ships favor missiles and shields reps, being a Caldari doesn't matter but Caldari ships do all follow a theme so to speak.
So player X want to be a support that repairs shields he would focus on Caldari ships in Eve online.
Race doesn't matter for the player but each race game wise has a theme in Eve. |
