Really? Swarms are broken... My Scout AV builds must not have got that memo yet.
They're a little glitchy at times, but with proper shot-curving, you can get the missiles to dodge around terrain just as well as the vehicles you're hunting. But it's even more important this build to actually learn how to curve your shots around terrain, because if you don't aim around terrain, your targets will aim your shots at walls and hills instead.
My most-used build is a pure-BPO Dragonfly Dropsuit with the Toxin SMG and Locus Grenades (I'd bring AV if there was a Militia AV grenade) for AP use when needed, but I spend MUCH more with with my Swarm Missiles than with the AP weaponry. I also have a Nanohive, because infinite ammo makes even Militia Swarms kind of scary. It's rare that even a well-piloted Dropship can evade more than half my Swarm.
Being a heavily AV-focused Scout can be a HUGE advantage because enemy vehicles never retreat far enough to escape my reach. When a decently-fit Sagaris or Surya shows up, my "Free AV" build is little more than a distraction, but once they've started to suffer under a coordinated attack, I can still keep the pressure on while they retreat, and force them to fall back MUCH further than they normally would. And if my teammates don't back me up (hopefully because they're playing area denial, not because they're idiots), I die and bring the upgraded version of the same fitting (with AV grenades replacing Militia Locus), with Advanced versions of everything to rip the tank apart.
EDiT: Worth emphasising... NEVER slow down except to fire, and NEVER fire twice from the same place... until your targets are aware that you're never firing twice from the same place, and have started tracking NEAR your shot location instead of AT the point you were last seen. |

I'm talking about good drivers with well-fitted tanks.
I can consistently hit bad drivers with every single missile almost every time, and I'm yet to see a driver good enough to dodge more than half the swarm even in their best-case scenario.
I wouldn't recommend trying to take a Sagaris down with Swarms alone, though. FGs are better for that position, but Swarms are still viable for extra damage, and to give chase with because Scouts can move faster than anything that can hold a Forge Gun. |
