first id like to say sory about my gramer i know it is bad but please bare with me
i was thinking what are the major problems with all fps games as a whole and i notice the same problems 1. no solid front line 2. spawn camping 3. strafing mosh pits 4. meeningless objectives
dust as it is, is no difftent and i think i no how to solve it with 2 big changes i want to see dust reinvent spawning and leadership. yes i relise theres lots of threads about it but theres a reson for that all fps have used the same out dated spawning / objective system for as long as i can rember so id like to share my new systems as i think dust is perfect for them
in dust when you die you are reborn in a clone the cloning bay should be huge only in 3 places and each place offering diffrent options to get to the field ill list them "keep in mind this is a simple vershion more minor details are involved so try not to nitpick if a dev shows intrest i can provide more details"
spawn 1. - the main base "for defenders only" here you can 1. walk or drive to the field "air ships included" 2. use drop ship to bring a few players at once 3. have a small high flying npc drone take you to a predetermined LZ and drop you like a bad ass parra trooper
spawn 2. mcc "for attackers" 1. drive a air ship to the field 2. have a npc drop ship take you and/or your tank if you so chose to take 1 to a predetermined "safe" LZ 3. have a player drop ship take you were ever needed 4. have a small high flying npc drone take you to a predetermined LZ and drop you like a bad ass parra trooper
spawn 3. eve ship in orbit "both teams" 1. spend a lil cash to buy a drop pod that hot drops you and a small ammo resupply were ever needed
this will leave room for many map types as well and each time you respawm you can either watch a 5 or 10 sec spawn timer or wach your dude drop out of the test tube and start suiting up
as for leadership we need to first give them more to think about. 3 obvious objectives that are taken and retaken are not going to cut it you must make the main objectives a 1 time cap so once its taken it is not retaken and more usefull secondary objectives some are 1 time some can be retaken for example defenders have a artillery sight once its destroyed it needs to be retaken then slowly repaired "if it can be" but so long as its there scouts can request a sight to hit
turret sights can be destroyed if retaken it must be repaired if not then hack it point is more sights leading to more complex field makes for better more emersive and meeningfull fight now your squad leaders can put more thought into what to attack or defend and players see points for fallowing the orders "leader ship has a lot more details that would turn into a wall of txt so im trying to keep it short"
these kind of changes are what we need to stand out as a AAA fps |

spawn camping, this is possible because of a bug in the randomized spawnspotselectionthingamajigger.
lack of frontlines is a map design problem, not spawn points. and a lack of teamplay, which will get hugely improved with corp battles.
strafing moshpits, bunnyhopping etc is a problem of setups, as you will see when you start meeting creodron or similar gear, you die _fast_.
meaningless objectives? do you even know what impact these battles will have in the eve universe? i am afraid if the level of persistence of Dust 514 isnt enough for you, i think no fps will ever be fulfilling for you.
there are important points to be talked about, but methinks these are not those. |

your looking at this on to small a scale more numbers will create a front line . as most of them will not be corp fights but rather random match making mag proved that its not the maps
spawn camping is not the only problem with the spawn system the whole point you missed is if you can respawn 30 feet from were you died it leaves no negitave for dieing and removes the need for drop ships and other meens of getting to the fight
when i say meeningless objestives i meen it meens nothing when you take a point and they retake it 30 seconds latter if your objective is say a turret shooting at my mcc i dont want to hack it so they can hack it back im going to blow it the hell up so theres nothing to retake bf3 proved that consept thou i guss meeningless was a bad choice of words
as for the strafing mosh pit i think thats more a problem of not caring wether or not you die hence the run in kill 1 or 2 and die then rewpawn and do it again 15 sec latter charging people for clones used will help with this as well
