Rule 1 To ensure safe flight, make the area is safe for flight, do this by taking out turrets where possible, capturing only works if you can maintain pernament control, if you cannot destroy it. Do this faster and Ill start being your flying bus much earlier, I can dodge player shot bullets all day long but AI controlled blasters tear my ship into shreads and missile launchers are highly unpleasant for me. To maxmize my flying bus time please help the team out and take these tings out.
Rule 2 My ship is expensive I pefer not getting shot down I also very much better perferr to at least survive getting shot down. Please do not cry over the comms because I had to pull out of an area due to forge gunners and the sorts. I will do my best to maintain area presence if possible it usually takes about 4-6 threat vectors for me to completly pull out mostly multiple launchers forge gunners and annoyed tank/lav gunners.
Rule 3 If you are a gunner PAY ATTENTION. There are times I'll swing by an area to try to present to you a target of easy oppertunity if I am not repairing myself and there are no targets where you are looking if I remain stationary, there is something I can see that you need to shoot. So instead of looking down at a wall face look slightly up and see yourself an unattentive sniper I cannot seem to squash at the moment. If you see me climbing to get above the towers thats your queue to start checking for any targets top side of that tower as I only park up there to ensure rule 1. Finally I am a very steady flyer, failure to do this may result getting your head shot off by the sniper I tried to have you kill. And look for glowing orbs of any sort the quicker these get killed the quicker I bring you to the next target.
Rule 4 Do not fire on the MCC, reasons for this is first off you're not paying attention, and secondly I am going to assume some drop ship got the jump on me and is currently above me and I will bug out. This wastes everyone's time for little effort as its not a sagaris railgun cannon you're shooting at an mcc.
Rule 5 When I land it typically means get out and capture something, there will be times when there are no soldiers in the area and I need people to leave the vehicle to get points of interest back. I only need 1 gunner to provide air cover for the capturer and dont worry I will do my best to get you back out of there and at least pick you back up.
Rule 6 if you need a ride and your in a safe spot where I can loiter a short bit please do shot at the ship so I know you want on.
Rule 7 Understand what my evasive orbit is if you find yourself in my dropship after a spawn and I'm going around in circles pray that I dont hit something mid air because I have about 50 missiles on my rear end. If you are not a gunner try to find a good spot to exit while I'm performing my orbit, when I am going evasive I orbit over all three capture points so plan accordingly.
Rule 8 Target Priority is Objective Hacker first, whoever is shooting at me second and the biggest fattest target you can find thirdly, for example if there are non aa infantry in the area and a sagaris I want the sagaris dead more than anything and killing that sagaris will net far more isk than any foot mobile you can mow down. Do this and I will help you ruin murader pilot's days. So far managed to help gunners get revenge on ten of these things so far and I expect many more in the future. Tank and LAV drivers definetly hate me for that alone.
Rule 9 I make periodic stops to any position where its high ground to allow for easier depature and pick up take advantage if you need to. Gunners please dont get fustrated I play as a flying bus sometimes.
Rule 10 If it looks like I am about to go down DO BAIL and save yourself, you're usless to the team if you are dead but do so smartly usually I am high enough and have enough velocity to buzz several stragetic locations before hitting the dirt. If I survived by some miracle and you are in the middile of nowhere I will swing on by back where you possibly dropped off to offer a ride back.
Rule 11 Do understand one of my objectives is to get as many as the hostile team attempting to go AA so other ground forces can deal with them much more effectively. So when I stir up the hornets nest of swarm launchers feel free to exit safely if you cant handel the amount of attempted stinging.
Rule 12 If you have voice chat use it, I will listen and do my best just have to understand the rules above that there will be times I will not bring you to an area because its too hot. Just because I cant use voice comms yet doesnt mean you cant. Also as a gunner listen to team chatter sometimes they're praying to be saved and you're the messiah, don't dissapoint.
Rule 13 If I am in an amarrian heavy with a forge gun and get well far away from everyone else to order in a Caldari Milita Ship DO NOT JUMP ON, there is a reason why I uninstalled the CRU, put on nanofibers and named this the torpedo and you would not appreciate its end destination, trust me on this. The bus driver will not refund any dissatisfaction boarding this ship.
Rule 14 Keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times, turn off all mobile devices upon liftoff, and wear seatbelts as turbulence can be unexpected, unless the craft is deemed no longer safe for flight and do not distract the bus driver and enjoy your flight. <^-^>
Feel free to use these rules for your own drop ship, this publication is intendened for passengers but if you are clever enough this can be reversed engineered for a drop ship manual. |

I sometimes use the husk as a nice warm welcome gift to any murader pilot. So I say that is much better than hull tanking. |

Yup rule 1 is critical for good dropshipping around taking out thier CRUs helps out immensly as it makes the enemy have a much longer run to thier objective points, the longer it takes them to get somewhere the more likely Ill spot them during a patrol. |

TotalBreakage wrote:I am a dedicated dropship pilot, but is becoming a very expensive practice, as my fully maxed out Prometheus is 150,000 ISK each. If I lose one, I have to work hard to compensate for the losses.
My dropship is able to withstand quite a beating, I can take a shot from a prototype forge gun and still survive. I take prototype swarm missiles with no problem. But the only way I end up losing my drop ship is when I'm trying to get kills for my brain dead gunners.
I will often hover very nicely over obvious targets on the ground and tell my gunners on voice chat to take them out, but instead I see the missiles trying to hit some thing on the other side of the map. When they finally realize there is an easy target right under us, I have every AV weapon in the area trained on me, and getting out of those situations is difficult.
I spent millions of skill points into everything associated with piloting, it's a difficult job and I feel I am not rewarded enough.
That is why I wrote the manual hopefully people will better understand thier roles in the drop ship. |

ROIZENGH wrote:If I find myself on your dropship or anyone elses for that matter i here pledge to honor this manual. But really this should also be read by any pilot out there i sometimes find myself wanting to go certain points of interests and they just don-¦t feel like it. I admit that sometimes i fail to realize there is an enemy exactly where you point it but i-¦m always looking for a the strongest enemy around and b the closest one always trying to make both points.
Yeah dont get too upset if I favor one side over the other as its a natural disposition a bit hard to get over when Im doing gunship duty. Just I do try to be aware of it but the moment I feel you are less competent than the other gunner is the moment I swap sides on purpose to give the better gunner the oppertunity to kill things I need dead. |

I may make a more formal dropship guide. In the future. But waiting on the newer toys to come out before doing so. |
