As it is in Dust, Vehicles are an important part of some people's playstyles. The major issue being that someone on your team can yank a 200k+ vehicle out for a 10 second joyride without your permission (implying it gets blown to bits by just running it up an enemy alley) So, I believe we need...
--Ownership Controls--
Bringing up the Vehicle Request screen then Pressing right could bring up a Vehicle Control screen. (right again would scroll through available vehicles if player has more than one on field at time)
From this screen you could have the options to. 1. Vehicle Full Stop. (On/Off) 2. Clear Pilot Seat. (On/Off) 3. Activate/Deactivate remote self-destruct. (must have confirmation screen for activation)
Purpose of each function. Full Stop: Say that joyrider gets a bit of speed in your vehicle, using this forces the vehicle to stop or land where it is allowing you to catch up with your vehicle, or control where it is allowed to go.
Clear Pilot Seat: Kicks all other users out of pilot seat, and prevents them from getting back in. Only the Owner can enter when in this mode.
Self-Destruct: Detonates the vehicle. Useful for if your expensive vehicle is being hacked, and instead of having to fight against it, you can trigger the self-destruct (which will stay active even after hacked, unless new Owner figures it out and cancels) Also useful for if accidental call-in of Militia vehicle..
Details: Calling in a vehicle, or Hacking the vehicle makes that person the Owner of the Vehicle.
(Said functions also give a reason to why a car or tank would need to be hacked before use) |

Having had someone hop into my Sagaris right after the RDV dropped it and then drive it off into a group of enemy tanks, thereby losing me 220k right at the start of the match, I heartily approve of this, or at least a function that permits only the player that called in the vehicle to be the first one to board it, unless they select an option to open it for their teamates. |

My suggestion from the other thread with the same complaints of people stealing your vehicle.
I have a thought on this subject, maybe it's a bit simplistic, but it seems like it would solve a lot of the problems with vehicles we seem to be facing.
If you don't have the skill, you can't use it.
I don't have the skill to use a Prototype Forge gun, so when the heavy next to me dies, I can't pick up his Proto Forge and blast away, likewise, I don't have the skill to pilot a Sagaris, so when YOU call one in with your your hard earned ISK my character should have NO clue how to operate it, that's why the skill exists. If they also did away with the militia vehicles, and made it so you had to pay to play with the big toys we'd have a lot fewer of these problems.
In Eve if someone abandons their Caldari Battleship, my pilot without the skills to fly it can't take it.
It seems like those of us that have invested the time, money, and skill points to be able to pilot nicer Dropships and HAVs have a little bit more respect for other people gear, because we know what it's like to pay for it. Worst case scenario, some other guy who has the correct skills to use your HAV grabs it because you got killed before your HAV dropped in, at least you know they won't just abandon it or suicide it into a wall.
I understand that during the BETA testing there is a need to have more vehicles etc on the field to test weapon balance, armor, draw distance, server load, etc. I would like to see proper skill based vehicle implementation in the game once it goes live though. The endless swarm of militia vehicles is getting old, fast. |

Having seen my dropship fly off without me just after it arrive on the battlefield - being able to be the pilot is a good thing - basic craft security system/owner signal key? |

+1
Then there are the idiots, who seems to think that tanks and dropships are a sign of being spoiled, so they steal it, and fly/drive them to the unsafe areas, or just fly up and jump out, giving the owner who might have ended up in a gunner seat no time to shift through the 7 positions to get to the pilots seat in time. |

I DISapprove of this *****'s message.
The problem is not leaving the tanks you *****. It is people stealing them right after they are delivered that are the problem. |

I fully support this. Oh, I hadn't even considered that. ^^^THIS. I know everyone's gonna jump around yelling "EVETARD" and all that crap, but in EVE you can't board a ship without the skill to operate it, and any modules onboard that you don't have skill to operate are deactivated. I think it only makes sense that Dust should function the same way. I think a combination of this and a way to lock the vehicle from being stolen by teamates before you can even get in it would be an excellent feature. |

I support a total lockout of the driver seat for any friendly that didn't order the vehicle. (unless they have time to re key the driver seat, basically hacking an empty friendly vehicle, at no sp gain. This ought to give the intended pilot plenty of opportunity to maintain ownership of his vehicle, a summing he hasn't been killed... In hitch case it's better his vehicle be hacked by friendlies than hacked or destroyed by enemies.) and of course, I think militia vehicles should be free for all because there is no recurring cost to them. It would also be very nice if you could see the fit name of a vehicle, allowing you to differenctiate between similar builds that may show up at more or less the same time, and place. |
