The dot is my preferred crosshair of choice in any FPS game I play. So I'd have to say the rifle scope is fine. Plus, I've seen many games with rifle scopes with only a dot in the center. Since bullets don't drop in this game, there's no real sense in adding any measurements to the lens of the scope. A dot is perfect and obstructs your view as little as possible.
As far as the zoom goes, I'd have to agree, but I'll settle with one zoom. At least that way I get used to it always being that one level of zoom. I saw somebody mention something about being surprised the OP didn't say anything about being able to no-scope. While, technically it isn't no-scoping, if you're good enough, you CAN get an enemy in the center of your screen, zoom in with your scope and immediately after zooming in, fire your weapon and then release L1 to zoom out. If done right, you'll zoom in really fast and shoot the enemy and then zoom out. It can be very effective at close range. You can kill at least 50% of the enemies with just 1 hit if your skilled and equipped right.
The swaying isn't that bad, either. Crouch and ADS and just sit still for like 2 seconds and you will notice that your scope sway GOES AWAY ENTIRELY. Of course, when you move or shoot, your scope will sway. It's kind of like the laws of nature, you see. The birds and the bees. That sort of thing. Ya can't win 'em all, Chuck. I don't do it often but I have sniped people while moving/standing. It isn't exactly easy but Sniper Rifle Proficiency helps a little bit.
In any case, in my opinion, the sniper is by far the best class of guns. Haven't used a Forge Gun yet, though, so I can't really compare them to one of those. |

Aside from the fact that Dust has this feature anyway, I don't understand why this would make sniping too easy. I mean, a sitting duck is a sitting duck, plain and simple. If a target is moving, then you won't be aiming at the target for your crosshair to be turning red anyway. Which is the case like 80% of the time.

I go for sniping perches often. It's where I'm most effective. The key is to keep out of sight unless you're taking a shot at somebody. I often scope out other snipers long before they find me as well. Also, if you're spotted or start taking shots at an enemy and lose sight of them, it's best that you pack up camp and hit the ol' dusty trail. If you catch my meaning. |
