Greetings,

Okay, so you are a mercenary, you can "fight" for whoever you choose to fight for, if you are willing to accept the money and they are willing to pay you. You are still "hired" by corporations and you can fight for them or against them.
When Dust is connected to EVE, you will see a segment of the Dust population go to work for EVE corporations and another segment creating Dust only corporations. In addition to these will be some (if not all) of the EVE NPC corps... And they are legion. If you choose to join a PC (Dust or EVE) corp and are accepted, great, otherwise you will be "drafted" by one of the NPC corps. This draft means nothing other than that you are are in an NPC corp, and if your standing is low enough it costs you a grand total of 10% in taxes.

Lorebot wrote:What exactly we'll be fighting over is still a bit of a mystery. I remember being told a long time ago that Dust would be all about fighting over Planetary Installations, or the Planetary Interaction structures built by EVE Players for harvesting and processing materials from planets. Recently I've heard that Dust Mercs will actually be responsible for defending whole planets to help control Sovereignty rights in EVE. I find the prospect of putting the bulk of Sov holding ability in EVE in the hands of Dust players will probably be a very bad idea since it's a REALLY important part of EVE nulsec gameplay and would seriously impact EVE players by removing their ability to directly control Sov in their own space. Based on various Dust / CCP blogs over the last 3 years, we will be fighting over both PI and Sov at least in null sec, PI and FW Sov in low sec and it is still unclear for high sec.
Personally, I think the idea of Dust as part of the null sec Sov warfare makes a lot of sense... Please note I think there are going to be some massive issues because of Goons and their 10x manpower, but for everyone else I think it will simply add an extra layer to Sov warfare.
I am really looking forward to CCP deciding how they want to handle WH space though... That could get really interesting, especially considering the lore and history.

Lorebot wrote:I haven't heard anything about Dust Mercs being able to join EVE corps, I'm pretty sure they won't be able to interact in that way. You have heard it, you just haven't made the connection yet. CCP has stated in multiple blogs that they want the EVE pilots to be able to talk / communicate, within the EVE framework, with Dust Bunnies, so that says they are going to create a communication mechanism between the two. They have stated in others that the warbarge is an extension of their ambulation and they intend for EVE pilots to be able to interact physically with Dust Bunnies.
From there though, you have a couple of other things they have stated which provides more of the links... The two markets will be tied together, though I still can't see how, which means commerce.
Next CCP has tied user bases together. So while Asno Malo and Asno Masamang are being played by the same player and will be on the same account, they are two completely separate entities.
Finally, If CCP does not provide a mechanism for EVE corps and Dust corps to be one and the same, people will meta-game to make it that way. For example, Asno Malo's EVE alt is a corp leader, so Asno Masamang's Dust alt will create the same corp in Dust... And my corp mates will use mumble and our own forums to communicate.
