So, I don't understand why the depletion of clone reserves automatically ends the match. It would feel more natural to have the players who die after clone reserves are depleated kicked to the loss screen while giving the existing players a chance to continue the fight rather than cutting everyone off all at once when the clone pool was exausted.
Maybe some kind of UI feedback (a number indicating how many clones are remaining, that switches to 0 & blinks red once they're exausted so that you know it's your lst chance, etc..). |

I agree with this, and it should actually apply to all game modes. Just because the clone reserves have been used up, as long as there are boots on the ground, the fight should continue until they're all gone as well. |

Greetings, I am going to take your comments a bit out of order...
Longshot Ravenwood wrote:Maybe some kind of UI feedback (a number indicating how many clones are remaining, that switches to 0 & blinks red once they're exausted so that you know it's your lst chance, etc..). This is already in the game, it is just that most people don't notice it when it does change.

While I like the overall idea you are suggesting, I would recommend that instead of going to the loss screen, they simply go to the summary screen. And have that page update when the game determines if based on the success or failure. The reason I say this is because, based on what you are suggesting it is possible for team A to lose all of their clones before team B, but still beat team B by killing off all of their players. Or in Skirmish, the attacking team could still get their MCC docked even if their reserves run out. By making this change, a zerg rush becomes a viable tactic even for attacking.

What about those who die after the clone reserves have been used up wake up back on the War Barge, where they can gather with others that are out of the game, and root for the remaining soldiers on the ground. They would have access to the current up to date standings screen, and the hologram would actually be the real-time mini-map showing the continuing battle. Technically I think that's what is supposed to happen when you run out of clones right? You wake up back on the war barge?
It would also be cool to be able to view the battle from the remaining players' views (only those on your side of course). |

My only gripe about this idea is the one guy that would find an extremely unorthodox place to hide, just to make the match last as long as possible.
Maybe when the clone reserves are depleted, set up an area of the map as a "retreat" point. Run there, board an extraction ship, and as a result you get to keep your fitting, instead of losing it to overwhelming odds.
Of course, you could also fight it out, depends on what the FC deems necessary. |

While I would love to be able to spectate some of these battles, NO!!!! My reasoning is very simple, too many people are already using external comms. They die and are booted from the match, but because they are using external comms they are still able to communicate with their team, but now they can see where everyone is and guide their live friends in to the hidden targets. Meta-Gaming like this would ruin the game faster than the Tribes folx asking for jet packs.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'external comms'. Do you mean communicating via PC or telephone?
If that wasn't an issue here is what I think Skirmishes should be:
I think the Skirmish battles should just be a battlefield that two teams are fighting over. No MCC, no objectives; just turrets, clone/spawn areas and refit stations (I can't remember the proper names for them, but you know what I am talking about).
Each side would spawn at the back/opposite end of the maps at the beginning and the turrets and spawn areas would be scattered throughout the battlefield unmanned and not operational until hacked. Each player has a finite number of clones and once they run out they can't re-spawn (obviously).
Once one side has no clones left, then it's game over.
Those who are have run out of clones go into an observation mode where they can watch any team member left standing but mic communications are disconnected from those who are still in game so that they can't be helped by the extra set of eyes. Communication between those who have lost all their clones would be enabled so that they could discuss what is going on and give them a reason to keep watching. Otherwise if you happened to get hammered and lost all your clones in the first 5 min of the match, you'd be stuck doing nothing while you wait for the game to end which doesn't sound like much fun to me.
After all, the Skirmish mode at the moment in Beta is just using the one map to simplify things for CCP. Once the game goes live there will be many more varieties of maps that won't need the MCC. |

Or just change the name of the counter for something other than "clone reserve" |
