Yes I know that the Gauss Rifle has been mentioned as I did a search, though I didn't look at all the posts. I think it would be a valid idea due to the electromagnetic technology existent in the Eve universe.
Ammo types;
Unrefined Hyperflurite within a Rolled Tungsten Alloy as Anti-Tank/Anti-Material ammo. (Higher cost.)
Unrefined Prometium within a Rolled Tungsten Alloy as Anti-Tank/Anti-Material ammo. (Lower cost.)
Hyperflurite within a Titanium Chromide shell as Anti-Infintry ammo. (Higher cost.)
Prometium within a Titanium Chromide shell as Anti-Infintry ammo. (Lower cost.)
Maybe Unrefined Ferrofluid encased in a non reactive shell that could cause armour to colapse in on the wearer or a vehicle in on itself, if possible. (Two types high and low cost.)
Maybe Sulfuric Acid encased in a non reactive shell that would cause severe internal (infintry) or splash (Inside vehicle) damage. (Two types high and low cost.)
Hey just ideas, I will leave it to CCP or someone more knowledgable in the elements/processed materials available in the Eve universe to consider other possibilities. |

Why give the Gauss ammo types when every other gun only has one type? just give the Gauss different weapon variants like everything else. |

Greetings,

Ummm, you do realize that gauss guns (AKA Coil Guns) and the EVE version of rail guns are effectively the same thing? They both use electro-magnets to propel a ferrite sabot down range. The only real different is that the Gauss gun passes the sabot through the center of the megnetic field where the rail passes it between two (or four) synchronized magnetic fields. Actaully, if you look at the Sniper weapon, which is a railgun BTW, you will see the coil mounts built into it.
What you are asking for, is simply different ammo types, which is required to provide different damage types. IIRC this is already in the works for the game.

Chances are if they do ever add ammo types theyll be using eve online ammos instead.
Gauss Rifel which is caldari will be hybridized ammo. So iridium, lead, tungsten, iron, antimatter are order of the day. |

Round of applause for the condescending comment Asno Masamang, are you trying to actively dissuade anyone who has not immersed themselves in the Eve universe and yes I know its called a coilgun, I'm sure you can check that on wikipedia too, I was using a common videogame name. Is it not possible to add it for all of them Zekain Kade. Thank you for not being a douche Iron Wolf Saber and providing constructive feedback. |

EvE rail guns: Railgun, Carbide Railgun, 'Scout' Accelerator Cannon, Compressed Coil Gun, Prototype Gauss Gun It seems EvE treates gauss, coil, and rail as being interchangeable, despite differences in how they work in real life(they do all exit in the present, just not usable on the battlefield yet)
The sniper rifle is said to be the smallest rail, maybe a Guass rifle would be same size, but could fill a battle rifle or designated marksmen rifle role, instead of sniper role. |

I thought the current guns already were? I assumed from the instant bullet travel with no bullet drop that this was already being done with most current guns like AR's and snipers... |

Sgt Slab Ranko wrote:Round of applause for the condescending comment Asno Masamang I am really sorry you took it that way, but no, I am simply pointing out that you are asking for something that is already on the roadmap and that you thought the specific term meant something that it does not. I explained the differences because there are some on the forums who will nitpick.
Now, having said all of that, had you actually read the second paragraph you would have realized I was focusing your request. I was not disagreeing with it or even debating it... I was clarifying it
Finally, if you feel my feedback / commentary was too harsh, perhaps you should go back to WoW and leave the rough and tumble games of weapon balance to the 10+ year olds. |
