I'm a sniper almost 100% of the time I am playing and I roll pretty much anyone in long range combat. I would say that Heavies are the easiest picking on the battlefield, if not for their immense amount of armor. I 1 shot Scouts and sometimes Assaults, depending on their loadout. If I can't 1 shot an Assault then I can definitely 2 shot them. As for Heavies it usually takes 3, but they're so slow they're almost standing still. Of course, this isn't counting headshots.
I'm not sure how long the recharge times on Forge guns are, but I would think that it puts you at an extremely large disadvantage after you fire it, no matter what, in terms of sustaining a long range assault. Also I've never used a Forge Gun so I have no idea if they have to be charged up before fired, like the Charged Sniper Rifle, you pretty much have to hold your shooting button down until you're ready to fire it. Either way, you would have to know exactly where the sniper is to hit him with it.
I've never once, NEVER, encountered a Heavy that has put up anything I would consider a fight at long range. Sure, they attempt to if they ever figure out where I am, but I'm usually far out of their normal weapon's range. The ones that do have Forge Guns usually completely miss with it. I'm more worried about somebody running up on me in a blind spot while I kill the Heavy, than I am about the Heavy hurting me in any way.
I'm not saying I'm the greatest sniper or anything like that, but I do consider myself to be pretty good. I got 9 kills within the first 90 seconds of a map last week. A few days ago I went 17-0 the entire map. Another time I went 21-1. I didn't use vehicles for any of those scores. Just my sniper rifle. I really doubt you could match me in those scores, or in long range kills, with just a Forge Gun.
As for why you think it's better with a Forge Gun, maybe you should give some info as to why you think they're better than sniper rifles. As someone who is specializing in using nothing but sniper rifles, I would have to strongly disagree.
I notice you said something about your sensitivity being too high. Most people prefer to have a high sensitivity when sniping. I prefer to have a lower setting though. But not so low that it takes forever to turn around. Being able to scope out your surroundings quickly is very important. Also, as someone else mentioned, when you're sniping, the best way to do it is to crouch and stop moving. Your scope will stop swaying completely until you shoot/move/stand up. Also, bullets take time to reach their target. When sniping, you HAVE to lead your crosshair ahead of moving targets. The further away they are and the faster they're moving, the further in front of them you will have to aim. |
