This is not about all that whining to deal with drop ships smashing people. Really any invested dropship pilot does not do that.
But this is about being a Spawn unit. Right now in my Eryx I am find that I can not play that vital role because I spend to much time running from proto swarms that chase me from kingdom come and back. Really kind of annoying. And if I stop and have not lost the swarm host that is chasing me I get insta popped.
One I think Drop ships need a warning system on lock ons and on missiles that are still following.
Number 2 Giving up gank for safety. I would love to see the turret spots on drop ships able to switch out for a flare system. It would give you a great advantage of having a solid survivability and able to play the role of a mobile spawn keeping your guys on top of the objective area.
Personally the flare could not be the only thing but maybe other defenses.
But for now for the flares maybe it could be set up like this
Meta 1 allow you to have 1 flare with a 90 sec cool down
so that means if one turret slot is used you will avert one swarm attack on yourself. if you use both you would avert 2 swarm attacks.
meta 2 would be 1 flare with 60 second cool down and would act the same as meta 1 except the faster cool down
Meta 4s or protos as you would call it would have 2 flares with 55 second cool down.
What this would do would give that great spawn unit with no gank and lots of protection against swarm assaults you would still have to deal with other sources of anti vehicle.
I have a feeling this could be used to create other great defenses in the drop ships that could maybe move over to other vehicles. |

The only concern I would have is dropship hammers with flares. Not being able to effectively shoot down the moron who's trying to smash your team to a bloody pulp would perpetuate the problem...
If that could be balanced, would like to see it.
Also, would be nice if non-militia CRU's could be spawned on even if a pilot isn't at the controls. Always dreamed of cloaking up, flying behind enemy lines and landing out of sight, then sniping enemies while my team spawns behind me and rushes in to flank 'em. But that's another topic, kind of. |

one problem i find is people have issues selecting my dropship to spawn in.
if i am too high, people cant spawn, if i am in the red areas, people cant spawn.

You can do this already, just carry a drop uplink and trow it after landing. Then start sniping :D |

As for people crushing I do not think you will ever see much of this in expensive drop ships. I fly one myself. And I do not dare go down and crush someone you get to close to the ground and you become tank fodder and forge guns will rain death apon you. Currently each of my drop ships are worth 250k a piece and I have pretty close to the best tank you can put on it. To get better I have to put about 5m sp into lvl 5ing skills that allow me to have more PG and CPU room.
So once all these militant drop ships are gone I think crushing and tower sniping will drop down to null you do not see very many if any eryx doing that because by then most of the smart pilots relize that is just death to there ship. where using your gunners if they are good can mean amazing round for a drop ship.
Currently I am finding it impossible to fly my drop ship anymore because I have 3 Proto swarms always shooting at me. And there is no defense from it Half the time I run and go hide behind buildings the swarms seem to wait it out and once I think I am safe I come out and bang they all hit me. And then I am back to sitting behind a building because my shield is down to its fringes or else I have been blown out of the sky by a mob of swarms that have stacked up with each other.
I am very willing to give up my gank if it allows me to keep spawning people behind lines. But they do need to make it possible to make a decent amoung of SP off from spawning people in. |
