dear ccp, please consider adding weather effects,
i want fog,
i want rain,
i want lightning storms that are attracted to vehicles,
i want sunlight that burns away hp so you gotta fight in the shade,
i want intense wind that blows you about,
i want tidal waves that knock you off your feet, |

More seriously, though, weather effects (including extreme and dangerous heat) would be awesome. Different worlds, different rules. Hopefully something along these lines will show up in time. |

I like the idea of a pitch black battlefield that is illuminated by gunfire and random flashes of lightening/electricity.
I don't know how well it would work, but I'd be willing to give it a go :) |

Greetings,
I would love to have various planetary effects, however I would vote against any visual effects. Please remember that we are in ultra-high tech suits that are tied into very powerful tactical data network. So we are not looking out of visual ports, instead we are looking at a hologram projected inside of our suit. Because of this visual effects make no sense.
With the above caveat understood, I would love to have real planetary effects, enhanced gravity (cause slower movements), hurricane force winds (cause various instabilities), plasma storms (cause random-temporary equipment failures), water environments (cause weapons like missiles and blasters to fail) |

Geez. Where is your imagination.
Let's have electrical storms, and electromagnetic dust storms, and petrochemical fogs.
Weather effects are a great way of creating opportunities for new gameplay opportunities. Maps with low visibility would encourage close combat. Toxic conditions would encourage vehicle use. A low lying fog could encourage aerial battles.

If we were not using holographic projections inside of our fully enclosed suits, your suggestions would make sense, but we are fully enclosed inside these suits.

How does it not make sense? How does electrical storms interfering with our suits not make sense?
The OMG WE ARE IN MAGIC SUITS argument is getting old.
The OP is suggesting something that could create fun new gameplay opportunities, which is more important that adhering to *your* interpretation of what our suits can do in the future. |

Electrical/plasma storms interfering with vision makes sense. Rain and fog affecting makes no sense.
So only extreme environments with extreme weather should have noticeable effects.
EDIT: They're planning on mostly sticking to less extreme environments on release, but there are MILLIONS of worlds in New Eden, and they'll be expanding constantly. |

i think there should be fog and rain, the sensor on the suit that create the holograhic display cant be all that powerful, and wouldnt have their own inherent weakness, maybe certion modules could improve the low visibility in weather, theres a forum post for the filiters in certian weather effects here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19704&find=unread |

Maybe you don't understand: Mankind in the EVE universe are about five thousand years in the future, after a massive dark age in technological advancement and then a rapid regrowth.
Our suits protect from radiation, heat and toxins, hence why we can fire a gun that shoots six thousand degree plasma bolts without burning up like match sticks.
Your sperg about OMG WE ARE IN MAGIC SUITS is laughable dude, because by today's standards we might as well be in magical suits. Our HUDs and indeed our entire battlefield representation is a holofeed from the suit's external cameras, and even if we were in a pitch black environment we'd still have our TacNet and whatever visual enhancement tech we'd be able to fit. I read somewhere we can fit scanners eventually that'd mark all targets in LOS.
Ghost Recon is set twenty years from now, and they have full outlining of enemies and friendlies alike. From a lore perspective it's not that hard to believe that our suits would be able to see in pitch black as if it were a sunny day. |

our suit should be able to see in pitch darkness but they shouldnt be as good as they would be in a ideal circumstance. |

Had you read my whole response, you would have noticed that I did say there was room for environmental effects via environmental extremes. Things like darkness and fog make no sense, but electrical storms causing random hardware malfunctions do make sense.
