The roles of engineers where just discussed in a thread.. and after some thought I was wondering
Would it be possible for logistics suits to get drone assistants? Either to aid in repairs.. or to be little death machines that spew death across the battlefield!
I'd love other players thoughts on this as well.. Feel free to chime in guys and tell me how right or horribly wrong I am. |

That's actually kinda cool. I'd be intrigued for more ideas that you would elaborate on for these little drones. What kinds of forms would they take and then way types would exist? Could they be killed or destroyed? |

RAV ( remote assault vehicle) very expensive equipment, destroyable, can attack... Thoughts? |

Well I'd assume they'd follow the same path that they do in eve.
DPS drones = Maybe a tiny gaurd dog type unit floats above/near the logistics guy provides supporting dps while he's busy preforming repairs or what have you
Logistics drone = Armor or shields = Auto targets nearby freindlys and or the logsitics guy himself providing light heals.
ECM Drone = Ruins local radar
Those are the only roles I think would easily translate.
As for destroying them.. of course! I'd assume they'd be of a decent size maybe about as big as a golden retriever?
too small and you risk the problem of them being impossible to hit..

I take it killing the driver renders the drone inoperable. But can it be hacked then to attack the enemy and how exactly would that even work? |

If it provides DPS it's welcome but I'm not sure what you mean by attack... if it can roam the map on it's own I think it's an issue. If it has to be assigned to a Duster/vehicle then it might work out allright.
I think the number of the drones deploy able at a time should be extremely limited.. en mass I'm sure they'd cause huge amounts of lag. |

Allowing hacking of them might make things a bit more convoluted it might just be better if they explode upon owner death.. Or maybe their HP/shields depletes quickly |

True. I take it you could conceivably modify them like any other vehicle then rather then merely equipment. Could get interesting if thats the case.
Oh and I also like the types you speak of. Especially the DPS drones. Though that does beg the question of what would become of the repair kits. Granted none are available without AURUM but thats probably gonna change. |

Drones could use the command interface to get orders on what to attack. Much like EVE drones have different sizes for frigs cruisers BS, each suit "heft" (light, med, heavy) should get their own drone size as well. As for controlling them, as drones are a primary damage type, it should be it's own "weapon". They are already out when the suit spawns, but the gun (a high-fitting sidearm, in fact) would act as guidance for the drones. Pressing R1 with this drone-lead weapon would set the drones to attack. HOLDING the fire button would cause the drones to arbitrairily shoot at the crosshair, acting as a gun for the player. |

We already got a Playstation Home personal item that is an attack drone following you around. It looks cool and is a small floating football-shaped thing with guns. This probably means drones will happen eventually. |

I like the idea, but since aiming at them is human and their movementis computer calculated, i would expect them to not move at fast speeds nor cicle around a merc attacking, because that would render this weapons op.
I would like to see them like something out of starwars movies, where drones have sizes very near of a human body, a move a little more fast than walk speed. Thsy would not circle its target like in eve, but act as mobile weapons platform, moving at ranve and starting fireing, being then open for retribution, giving thus a chance for the attacked to retaliate if able. |

Player drones should not be able to fight, or be very limited in their combat capabilities. I can just see five logis with combat drones running around hacking cannons because they don't have to worry about covering their backs as they hack. Drones should be purely for repair IMO; better to have it do something and you defend than you do something and it defend. Makes it more about player skill that way. |

Why not let drones attack, but only locked-on targets? They won't be good as an all-seeing autoaimbot if you have to manually move your aim over a player, hold the "drone attack" button and wait for a lock-on before the drone starts shooting the bad guy. |
