I've been playing Dust 514 for a few days now, and right off the bat I've noticed things I'd like added or changed. It's going to be a large list, so I'll be numbering it for easy reference.
Also, if people ask, I'll add other users requests so they're in one place.
EDIT: IF ANY OF THESE HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND SHOW ME A LINK! Thank you.
1. Looking down the sight should cancel sprints When I sprint in other FPS's, I tend to use L1 (or whatever button is used to look down the sight) to cancel my sprints. The extra split second it saves me is invaluable when running around corners or over hills and into an enemy.
2. Holographic arc for throwable weapons/items Throwing a grenade, and not knowing where it is going to land isn't very practical. The HUD has a holographic entity for everything except grenade tosses. A simple arc that shows where something will land is invaluable in making split decisions.
3. Return to character select through the Neocom It's frustrating needing to restart Dust in order to switch to a different character.
4. Locate downed teammates on HUD If the loadout I'm using has equipment that allows me to heal injured teammates, I should be able to locate downed teammates to heal them. The blue arrows that indicate teammates could have an additional symbol, or even be replaced entirely to grab your attention. Maybe a yellow color. EDIT; I just found out that this is being implemented in the next build. Source
5. Better dropsuit/vehicle editing GUI The circular GUI for dropsuit editing get's a bit frustrating. I need to rotate it just right to get to exactly where I want. I understand that this was probably done intentionally to look futuristic, but it tends to take up more time than nescescary. A quick edit could end up being a minute longer than it would be if it were simply built like an excel spreadsheet. A minute may not seem like much, until you consider that the waiting room for battles is around 3 minutes. Getting a final tweak in before your next battle can have a serious impact on the outcome.
6. Make variations on standard dropsuits Being able to make different variations of starting loadouts will help create a little more variety for new players. Being penalized by losing a basic assault rifle you own just because you wanted it with your heavy, isn't justified.
7. Training area or Training server A place to improve your skills without risk of losing equipment. Strictly training. Bots for offline play would also be beneficial, to test things by onesself.
8. Test skills and equipment before you buy This goes along with #7. Allowing the Skills and Marketplace to be accessible during Training would allow quick access and testing. I know that I appreciate a hands on demonstration of something before I can whole-heartedly commit. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
9. Cancel crouch by sprinting This goes along with #1. That split second really counts.
10. Custom button mapping Please add this for simplicities sake. I like having my crouch button tied to L2 and my grenade button to R2.
11. Redo the weapon selection process I've noticed that when I select a weapon in-game, when I push in a certain direction, after I select, my character starts looking in that direction. This is a minor annoyance, but using the directional pad when L2 (or whatever weapon select button is) is pressed to choose weapons would fix this. Also, the weapon selection GUI itself is very small, and makes selection difficult since it utilizes a rotating mechanic. In battle, I need to make sure I've selected the proper weapon fast.
12. Jetpacks Please! It makes sense. Mobility at it's best. EDIT; Some people are taking this too seriously. This is not meant to be a game changer. Just add another level of gameplay.
13. Sniper rifles with variable zoom I haven't seen this if it exists. Please confirm.
14. Friendly Fire In keeping with the realism of the EVE universe, friendly fire is a necessity in order to foster better team growth, and increase a players skill. Spraying, praying, and not caring seems childish, wasteful, and allows less skilled players larger access to important battles.
15. Visual cue for cooking grenades A simple visual cue to see how long a grenade has cooked will help reduce the number of times a person commits suicide. Maybe a light that slowly turns red on the grenade.
16. Resistance Modules I'd like to be able to see what the resistance of my shields/armor is before I fit resistance modules and after I fit them. Courtesy of Thor Thunder Fist Source
17. Automatically switch to sidearm when out of ammo I don't always look at my ammo count, so when I run out and keep trying to shoot, it gets frustrating. I think it would be quick and easy just to have it done automatically. As an option, it would be greatly appreciated.
18. Add option to disable Aim Assist Many people have been talking about it.
19. Separate X and Y sensitivities Some people like having different sensitives for the X and Y axis.
20. Change speed at which weapons are switched I noticed that when I switch from my main weapon to sidearm, it's slower than when I switch from my sidearm to my main weapon. It's somewhat backwards.
21. Allow the FOV to be changed Add an option that allows the field of view to be changed. I know I like a wider view angle. It's more realistic.
22. Allow gun customization Vehicles and dropsuits are customizable, why not guns? Courtesy of Templar Two |

I just mentioned this in a different thread. One relating to the R2 selection wheel. It is "stingy" like the dropsuit module wheel. |

No. Learn to play. If you insist, make such assists require a module to waste a slot on the loadout.
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 3. Return to character select through the Neocom
Not a bad idea.
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 4. Locate downed teammates on HUD
Good idea, this needs to be done in both directions, so downed/injured teammates can see if there are any medics near by as well.
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 5. Better dropsuit/vehicle editing GUI
I'm not having a single problem with it. My only change I would make to it is to get a prompt to ask me to name my custom loadouts when I make them rather than have to go into the menu again to do so.

Make alternate loadouts... I currently have an Assault I and an Assault II loadout where the only difference is either the Assault I dropsuit or the Assault II dropsuit. I'm gonna make another loadout here later focused on CQC utilizing shotguns.
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 7. Training area or Training server

Carbon Hebonite wrote: 8. Test skills and equipment before you buy
No. Skills, number one, aren't something that you can really test. They either provide passive bonuses to equipment performance or provide access to use equipment. As for equipment, the milita gear is dirt cheap. Grab it and learn how that equipment type works, and if you like it then consider upgrading into more advanced stuff.
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 9. Cancel crouch by sprinting
I'm passive on this one, really don't care.
Carbon Hebonite wrote:
10. Custom button mapping
No reason why there couldn't be custom button mappings TBH, but if you spend a few matches you should be fine with the controls. My only real complaint is having crouch on the triangle button, but that's kind of a niggling thing as well.

I'll agree, it feels a little clunky for some reason, takes me way to long to pull out a nanohive and switch back. Maybe have D-Pad left open a small menu in the corner that you can navigate via D-Pad either the way Fallout does it's quick equip menu (open menu, then press direction on d-pad to equip that item) or a small list ala Metal Gear Solid (open a list, page through it via d-up or d-down, then equip with d-left again
Carbon Hebonite wrote: 12. Jetpacks
Why? Seriously, why? What problem would be solved by having a jetpack? That's what dropships are fore.

I thought it did this already? Nope. It SHOULD, but it doesn't. You press L1 while sprinting, and nothing happens. You have to stop sprinting first, THEN aim, unlike most FPS games where the ADS button drops you out of sprint automatically.

That would work... except when you want to rearrange your Militia gear early on and don't have the spare ISK to throw away on an extra Militia BPO.
We should at least be able to trade gear between these defaults to get some basic fittings that suit US, even if they have to be limited to BPO gear only. |

however i'd like to be able for example to filter out the standard militia dropsuit fits to make space on the spawn selection screen! |

This is definitely a point I'm trying to make. I'm glad someone else agrees.
Also, I'm not adamant on the jetpacks, I just thought they would add another level of gameplay. Scouts could use them to get to good vantage points. Of course, they would burn energy like no bodies business. |

Take the speed boost away and I can see no problem, just adds a vertical element for infantry. Each tier of jetpack increases the time you can stay airborne.
Only a minor thing but just a -tad- annoyed I can't delete the starting fittings for dropsuits and vehicles i'm not using now that i'm geared out more. (This is the first 4 for example in the dropsuits selection when starting a match) Let me delete these! |

I believe those are there in case you run out of custom loadouts. Like a backup. You can never run out of default loadouts, but you can run out of, say, Assault II dropsuits.

Carbon A true customization system let you change individual parts of your weapon, you suit, you vehicles.
Can we customize our weapons? No. -This in a FPS MMO is so depressing- Can we truly customize our Dropsuits? NO; we can add items to increase stats but we can't: change helmets, buy new armor pales, new leg attachments, buy new backpacks...we can't change in depth our Dropsuit. Same thing for vehicles; we can't: buy new tyres, buy new caterpillars for tanks, buy new engines, new afterburners, special weapons to make them more effective against a certain enemy, etc.. |

EDIT: Also, multiple HUD options would be nice. Different sniper/AR scope views, different HUD layouts, etc. Unless there are options which give more info or something, these should be in the options menu instead of being items you have to purchase/equip.
EDIT AGAIN: More info on the "LET ME PAINT MY STUFF!" request. Currently they allow you to buy specific suits with specific colour schemes. We need an item that allows a custom paint scheme on ANY suit you choose to repaint. They don't need to give you the ability to custom draw rude images on your suit or anything, just have 3 or 4 colour options (Primary, secondary, trim, and maybe a detail colour for some suits) which can each be customised specifically. And the same goes for vehicles. |

I already touched on the sniper scope issue. With the HUD issue, did you mean you want the to be able to customize the whole layout?
