The swarm launchers have been nerfed but a new tactic is being used by noobs. The new map and the ability to use up dropships like candy has created a new way for campers to earn points. People will park their dropships on the towers and procede to rain death with missile turrets upon any unlucky person to not be in cover. The tactic will stop anybody trying to capture the objective and anybody defending it. This needs to be stopped one way or another otherwise we are going to have a lot of campers. Thoughts, comments, and suggestions are welcome. |

Call in your own dropship, gain altitude, go bowling.
Seriously, if you ram them, they fall off and die and its really funny. I get tons of kills this way and I just keep doing it until people stop.
The best way for CCP to prevent it from happening is to make the tower tops just sloped enough not to be able to sit still on them.
But then people will park on top of the MCC.

I have trouble gaining the altitude for this... what's the trick? Not that I'm planning on doing it, just wondering how to get that high in case I ever need to go up with a door gunner to clear the MCC |

Hold L1 and you will keep going up. |

Keep holding L1 and rock back and forth a little bit. You will continue to gain altitude. IF you don't rock back and forth, you stall out.
Also, be prepared for it to be slow. Once you get up there, just ram the guy and he falls and dies. Good times. |

Ultimate "No contribution to the game" location but I getz lulz and killz pointz.
I hate when I see people up there.
Its not what is meant to take place, I don't think they need to remove the ability completely, but I do think that there should be a way to counter it.
Perhaps just tilting the roof enough that you can't sit in a dropship without a pilot without sliding off.
That way a piloted DS with gunners could take advantage of the high ground, and snipers could take advantage as well, but we wouldn't have the abuse we have now. |

it takes too much time to kick them off. I would rather have the top of the towers be off limits in some way. |

Thats gamey, and stupid.
I hate when games put in arbitrary boundaries for no reason other than to restrict my gameplay to what the developers intend to occur.
If you don't want people to use it the way they have, then make the towers have sharp pointed tops so you can't land on them.
But just saying "off limits" is dumb. |

As far as I am concerned this is a valid tactic and in fact is less game breaking than people parking them on the low level buioldings near default spawn points because you can easily corner the other team in like that. I've been on both sides of this and it's pretty rediculous. At least on top of towers they can only see target that allies have spotted and the accuracy is a major issue. I don't use this tactic myself but every time I get in a dropship now I do a quick sweep over the buildings for enemy dropships. It's very easy to deal with and like i said, a lot less game breaking than parking them on low level buildings near spawns. Also by doing this they remove the dropship as a potential spawn point as a pilot is required for people to be able to spawn inside them. It's anoying but it's a valid tactic, easy to deal with, and far from being unbalanced. |

Agreed, that is why I thought just sloping the roof a little bit would make it less viable, but still doable.
But I would disagree that the lower buildings is broken, it takes one guy with a swarm launcher to undo that little bit of hilarity, whereas the towers can't be shot by swarms on the ground.
TO be honest though, we DS pilots just need more people willing to be gunners.
A moving DS is much better at taking things out, camping spawns, and covering objectives with two able minded and active gunners. And even MORE effective with a squad of mercs riding along. I just wish when the objective where taken they would wait, I usually try to pick them back up and hit another objective, but they just run away. Makes me a sad panda. |

Obviously you haven't run in to the situation where all the spawns bar the 2 base ones have been destroyed and 2 dropships have been parked on the roof picking people off when they spawn. On the current map it's fairly easy to do versus defenders though harder to do versus the attackers because of the large exclusion zone but still doable with several vehicles including tanks.
Yes I agree with the better/more gunners thing, though to be honest I'm not that worried because once player corps come into the game we will have teams dedicated to this sort of thing. it would be nice to be able to reorganise squads though so you could put certain people in your squad. I know the sad panda about people not getting back in ships, also people not bailing when you have 0hp left, there's only so long I can keep the ship in the air once that happens ^^
Also the lack of understanding of when to drop out when people don't have gunner positions, people don't understand it's ok to drop for a fair height and just sit in there... Also nobody does high level drops using the decelerators....
Like I said player corps will put an end to this. I fully intend to train a corp for dropship based operations.

BAd idea imo. I dont take Dropships up there my self but it would be limiting the game play. Which is something we DON'T WANT TO DO. This is not supposed to be a cookie cutter FPS.
