After having the odd event of an active squad leader that gave direction to us, and the sheer dominance of our force during, I wanted to accomplish the same. Soon after, I was the squad lead but could not figure out how to issue commands. It was not until about half way through the match I found out it was down on the D-Pad then X on the map to bring up some sort of "orders" interface which you had to hold X and use the left joystick to select then let go of both buttons. This leads to the "bug" I experianced.
After letting go of the 2 buttons my marker wasnt a few CM from my charecter on the mini map and nowhere near where I selected it to be. Several attempts later, and dying from enemy fire during my learning experiance I was able to get in 1 proper squad order. After the order was no longer needed, I tried for another and ran into the same issue, my orders would be only a few cm from myself on the map and nowhere near where I was selecting. I soon gave up, took out the order and let my guys free roam once more.
Problems:
Order UI is VERY difficult to use. Scrap the whole "hold X then choose an option" format and make it easy. Make a legend on the map, and give each button press an order. For example, X is go here, O is defend objective here and Square is attack objective here etc etc
Squad orders are not issued where selected. Bug, please fix. |

Hold R2 then click R3 this brings up a menu wheel to select order type such as attack, capture, defend etc. After selecting order type hit R1 while aiming at objective/person/item and it will become the designated squad order. |

It's impossible to give the right order trough the map... In mine tryout, choose the right objective to defend was very difficult, and the "rally" order was completly wrong. I selected a spot, and the cursor has indicated another section of the map! I haven't try the "R2-R3" mode yet, i'm waiting this weekend! |

I tried using the overhead map method too and it was no good. After a bit of research before posting about it, I found out about the R2/R3 method but have not had a chance to use it yet.
However, if they are going to maintain the ability to press down on the D-pad and provide order issuing for the Squad Leader via the overhead map, then they should definitely fix it because it doesn't function very well. Rally orders were never where the cross-hairs were placed and attack/defend orders could never be set on the objectives themselves, just individual players or vehicles.
So either fix it or just get rid of it. I would prefer the latter since I think that method of issuing orders can be useful in certain situations. |

I would like a distinction made between ATTACK and CAPTURE.
There are some things I want my squad to capture but sometimes there are some installations it is far safer long term to destroy.
Specifically on the current map its the 3 defender guns nearest the attackers spawn.
Also an order other than rally can only be made if the objective can actually be seen. I think it has to be seen by one of your squad rather than team. |

The problem with issuing orders on the overview map is that the position is always allocated at the center of the map, not where the cursor is. Which is not only counter intuitive, but very annoying to say the least.
Both ways (in field, and on map) should be possible. But the in-map way needs to be fixed, and given a few more options too. |

I too just came across this problem issuing orders. The location I designated was off from where the beacon was placed. I found that when I zoomed the map all the way out that the location of the beacon was closer than the zoomed version though. I have not yet tried to use the weapon wheel with regards to accuracy of that way to do it. |
