With a very minimal amount of complaining about the "overpowered" HMG in the last build, the dev team saw fit to make this gun nearly useless in the DPS department vs anything other than a stock militia build.
My experience using a Lvl5 Prototype HMG fit with 2 complex damage mods vs well shielded advanced assault in close quarters led me to abandon the fit entirely as most would either just spray half a mag and run off taking nearly zero damage of saunter up straight through a hail of bullets to the dome and drop remote explosives at my feet.
My experience from the other end as an assault is nothing short of laughable. I think I've been killed twice by an HMG and I never hesitate to shoot it out with one because I'm going to win ten times out of ten. My other heavy fit is a type II armed with a forge and an SMG, and the SMG wins every goddamn time VS. players I know are using a broadside or boundless. It's ridiculous.
My final HMG verdict is that not only do you need to up the overheat percentage the proficiency skill eliminates from 3% to 5%, but you need to put the damage back in, pronto. If anything, just to save face. I realize it's beta, but this sets a bad tone and leaves many of us who have been through this kind of thing before with a bad taste in our mouths.
This kind of of kneejerk reaction to typical QQ will kill this game before it even gets out of the starting gate. Already there are QQ threads about how someone's **** militia fit tank got all blowed up in two shots from a prototype forge gun or how a giant flying ship smashed them and I have to wonder what the dev reaction will be to those complaints given what we've already seen.
I'm putting my foot down right now, no more nerfing until we see:
A) All of the weapon and ammo types in play.
B) Friendly fire turned ON. |

I would hate to see FF with the friendly vs enemy markers so out of whack...most the time i have no idea if someone at range is a friendly or an enemy. |

Yeah, well, they obviously need a whole slew of various markers in this game, everything from null damage to friendly damage.. I'd like to even see different damage markers depending on the weapon you're using and whether or not it is more effective vs either shield or armor. |
