Greetings,

In my opinion, the minimum flying height of the dropships should be just above the heads of our clones. I was on the receiving end of this treatment in two different battles yesterday and while it is kitten annoying, it is also a viable tactic and something that can be overcome. If / When CCP puts the price tag back in for Dropships this will cease to be an issue, but until then, simply improvise, adapt and overcome.
If CCP intends to keep the pricetag the way it is (my personal preference), I would like to suggest that Dropships get landing gear that is surface sensing. Dropships could still be used for crushing people, but it will be a bit harder as only the landing skids would crush. Of course that would create other tactics that Dropship drivers could use. ;)

Greetings,
aces 2323 wrote:I have a related request: Don't allow the dropships to simply park on top of a really high tower where the vehicle weapons can't get to them. Ummm, if a player could get there in the first place, then a second, third, heck even a fourth player can get there.
Additionally, You are still vulnerable sitting up there. I have died to counter-snipers, tanks, and missile turrets while sitting on top of a tower... This is all in addition to enemy dropships dropping in to say hello.

RoBoJerk wrote:You do know swarm launchers have lock-on, right? And they're a light weapon, even scout dropsuits can carry them. This is now somewhat of a sore point for me. Yes SL can lock on and take out the dropship sitting up there, however, I can longer use it to take out the sniper on the tower.
The other part of this is that the Dropship will disappear soon anyway unless someone is in it. I (and others) parked a dropship on top of these towers and switched over to dropships guns. Worked surprisingly well after the firing arc limits in the previous build.

aces 2323 wrote:Ok, so if there are two of you shooting and one gets picked off by a sniper, can't you respawn in the ship? I'm still learning the game. Yes and no. If the dropship has a CRU and if there is a pilot in the dropship then yes, otherwise no.
In addition, as I stated previously, if there is no one in the dropship will start taking decay damage and disappear within 3 (2?) minutes. |
