In regards to the shooting mechanics you need to go either more like Halo(preferable) or like Cod,right now your stuck in between and its awkward and confusing.
Weapons need to be more balanced, again look at halo,it has fantastic balance(see halo CE) All the weapons beyond the assault rifle are awkward, and even it is too a degree. Also the guns need aim assist,if it were a pc game you wouldn't,but console games do.
The sniper rifle needs to ditch the awkward wobble and have a reticule when not zoomed(all the guns reticules should be different),and the rocket launcher needs to become useful, then theres the pistol it needs to be remade from the ground up,visually and how much damage it does(or in this case doesnt do ) You also need the ability too pick up enemy weapons, its horrible not being able too,and the ammo count needs to be more visible, see Killzone or halo.(vehicles also need balancing, see star hawke and halo)
Also loadouts need to be made more accessible
for the health and shield you need actual health and shield bars, the numbers are unattractive and awkward, and the amount might need to be tweaked..maybe
Also the vehicle need to play more like Halo's and starhawkes(preferably halos since they are slightly more fine tuned)as they are,I hate driving them which is sad because I LOVE vehicles in the other games.then theres vehicle customization make it simpler, and make it so things pop in the menu better, right now the blue on blue is kind of hard to see things in.Lets not forget the near unreadable text, please fix it.
Then there's customization instead of picking default full outfits you should allow actual customization(like arms /helmet /chest/ legs /boots) this would not only give your characters a much more personal feel but it would also allow you to earn more money by being able to sell each piece(cost 10 cents per use or 1.50$ for limitless have 50+ in each area to buy and you have alot of money from me(I put in over 500 hours of halo reach alone for that))
The pre battle hangout room is an amazing Idea, but it needs some tweaking make the camera movements not make your character turn, give them the ability to jump and move faster and maybe some emotes or something(like wave, sit or something)
Then of course you need map packs, charge 3$ for every new map or something or give them out for free and add a bunch of new armor/weapon/vehicle customization
As for ways to earn money with pre match bonuses, have bonuses like 10% extra ammo upon spawn or pickup,or 50% less spawn time,or No spawn time.Or even something like 50% off in game items for 2 hours,Id actually buy these every once and a while.Other ones that would give people a slight advantage would be things like 5% speed bonus for an hour(not enought to make you invincible but enough to give a slight edge)
That being said this game has some seriously amazing potential and I cant wait too see where it goes |

I have no problems with the guns for the most part, as well as shooting mechanics. Do a better job of explaining how its "in between", and why that's actually a bad thing.
Giving sniper rifles reticules when not zoomed in would only lead to snipers hipfiring 1hit kill shots at close range. This is just a plain old bad idea.
Rocket launchers are effective anti-vehicle weapons, they lock on, shoot multiple rockets. What more do you want? Do you want to make it into an overpowered anti-infantry weapon as well?
Vehicle seem fine to me. If you want a better vehicle, don't use the free militia vehicles, and invest in a nice advanced or prototype vehicle. Be more specific with your descriptions of how you want vehicles to be instead of "more like Halo"
Louadouts are fine. Pick your suit, pick your weapons, pick your equipment, and pick your suit modules. Simple enough once you actually get use to it.
The dropsuits are not "outfits", they are not there for personalization, they are for function. Heavy is for high armor and special heavy weapons, scout is for speed stealth and stamina, logistics is for carrying lots of support equipment (for reviving, resupplying, and dropping spawn points), and assault is for general combat situations. Piece customization would be cool, but not really needed.
I would like weapon pickups from fallen enemies, but such a system would need to take into account if you have the right slots to equip the gun, if you have enough PG/CPU, if you have the skills needed to use that gun.
Having map packs is a stupid idea. Not only does it divide the playerbase, there will be thousands of planets we can play on when the game releases, that's right, THOUSANDS, and each of them will have many maps. This game is set in and wil be linked in with the EVE Online MMORPG, aside from the real time financial interactions (being hired to conquer planets for them so they can harvest resources), and the real time communications, we get to experience the massive number of planets that universe has to offer. |

It's true, I don't think op really understands what dust 514 is about. This isn't halo or cod or even starhawk. This is the ground combat side of eve online, and as such it won't be as much run'n'gun as it will be about tactics and teamwork. |

no no no no no all your suggestions suck IMHO if you want a game lke halo then go play halo
this game dosent need to play like other games
it needs to play like Dust 514
i wanna see players in the future saying "this needs to be like Dust 514"
and the new map pack thing is really dumb...since ccp offers all of EVE's expansions for free then the same will go for dust and since we get thousands of planets on release then a map pack isnt needed (at all) |

I think he is saying the controls for driving vehicles should be more like halo or starhawk. I think he is right about this one since both of those games have very good vehicle controls , especially for LAVs . |

No aim assist. Console player's don't need it, it's probably the stupidest feature you can ever put in a game, ever. |

^^^ Too bad we have it already.
Also I agree with Saryn.
Shooting is the weakest part: as a FPS Dust is below average sadly :(
We need better vehicle handling.
We should have customization opposed to pre-set gear.
Dust 514 should not play as COD or Halo but have a unique feel with more than solid shooting mechanics. |

Wow lots of guys flipping out over the map pack remark, even though I said or give them away for free =\
And when I said more halo like,I was refering to smoothness and weapon balance, something this game sadly like as it is right now.
And as the vehicles are now, they kind of suck. They are just really awkward and clunky, and when looked at in comparison to Starhawke and halo it just doesnt compare. As for why Id prefer it to have gunplay like halo(or quake,or unreal etc) is because its more controlled and can have better balance. As the shooting is now,its really awkward and clunky and feels like its stuck between arcade and COD style. |

XBARTX99 wrote:Saryn Volstag wrote:stuck between arcade and COD style. cod is arcade realistic shooters out there(arma, battlefield , Americas army) Oh wow, I haven't played AA in years, but it was brutally realistic. A solid hit would bleed you out if you didn't get to a medic, and only one or two snipers per team. Although, little jerks would kill you to steal your rifle even if they used it at a penalty. Great game. Even the fact that you have to pass a written basic first aid course in order to play as a medic is mind blowing.
That being said, if that's the experience I wanted, I'd be playing it instead of Dust. Obviously I want something different, and I guarantee I'm not alone in that feeling. If people got their way and this was turned into CoD/Halo/MAG/Gears of War/Battlefield/Arma/America's Army/Goldeneye/Fallout/Portal/Super Mario... well, the game would be ruined and we'd all go elsewhere. Why can't people let this be a different game?
I know Bart gets that, but it's the braying masses we've been getting lately that are just too damn stupid to understand that concept. Now, if you're just plain stupid, can't help that I guess. Willful stupidity on the other hand... now that I try to stomp on every time I see it, and I've had to do a lot of stomping lately it seems.
So, TL;DR - this isn't any other game than dust, deal with it. |

Well, see, when the game releases, we're pretty much being given a significant number of the tens of thousands of planets in New Eden to fight on, each of which has up to 20 districts no less than two kilometers across that act as maps. Also, not only are we eventually going to be able to fight on -every- single planet, but we'll be able to own the territory we capture and build our own installations on it, so even the same district on a planet won't be the same the second time you fight on it. This game isn't ever going to -need- map packs. |

It should be smoother, but in its own way. Halo is a good starting point, but it needs to build its own identity. |
