I think you should get an indicator on any grenade that enters your field of view. They're simply too small to see otherwise, and I'm on a 42' flatscreen. I can only imagine how much harder it is on a smaller screen. In short, if your character could see it, then the player definitely should be able to as well.
I'd like my grenades to explode at all. Half the time they just vanish.
I'm kind of surprised there's no sticky grenade, or at least none that I've seen. Heck, I'd kill for Resistance's AFGs, Air Fuel Grenades that stick to a spot/person and disperse flammable vapor for a few seconds before igniting it. Those were so much fun before the big patch in R2 the broke everything. |

Somehow I just knew someone was going to respond like that, saying they could see them fine. I really have to doubt that you can see a small grayish black sphere when usually surrounded by large grayish black buildings (or in their grayish black shadow) with complete ease, especially on a smaller set. They would be smaller than pencil lead viewed end on.
In regards to knowing your surroundings and paying attention, that *is* with doing so. Most of my ability in FPSs comes from good awareness and understanding of what I and my opponents are capable of. That'll win you far more than mere gunplay. (Of course, those who can combine the two are a force to be reckoned with. My gun game needs a lot of improvement before I get anywhere near that.) Either way, to properly use that awareness, you at least have to be able to see what your character could. A small highlight over the grenade as it flies would do wonders. Especially for the colorblind. I'm not one, but I do feel for them on this.
Note: I'm not asking for omniscience here. If I throw a grenade from behind someone, and it lands behind them, then they'll never see it coming. Fair death. And even if they do cook the thing, the second of warning if you can see it coming can be the difference between a direct hit and cover.
I do agree that bringing realism into the equation and then trying to bolster the argument by comparing how hard it is to knife through power armor was not the best decision. Sorry, OP. |
