currently the dropships are performing extremely well. There are a few ideas ive had concerning the dropships.
First off, I'd love to see a combat ceiling put in the game, so dropships cant fly on top of towers, park, and rain missile fire down on half of the map. Perhaps just an altitude limit where if its exceeded, the dropship just slowly loses altitude until it returns to the maximum altitude.
Id also love to see a speed/altitude readout, it would make quick landing a bit easier, since i'd be able to see im within 20 feet from the ground and ease off the L2 button, and i'd know once ive landed so i dont sit there holding the button as well.
I'd also like to see a hover feature, or an altitude lock that you can trigger to maintain the same altitude without having to engage in tapping the L1 or L2 button while gauging the altitude by eye.
Id really enjoy the hover/altitude lock (Maybe engaged by holding R2 and enabling a module) so i could quickly drop attackers at an objective, skirt up to a few hundred feet, engage the lock and hop on the turret to provide fire.
Perhaps if it was a module it could be called an advanced flight system computer, requiring prerequisite skills to be trained and the module to be present to activate.
one thing i have noticed is the randomness of the missile launchers, id say maybe 1 out of 8 land where i was actually targeting. While i understand the reasoning behind having the accuracy decreased on the turrets, it seems as if theyre too inaccurate. Especially since theyre 'guided missiles' and not rockets. While having a missile that moves towards where my reticule is pointing would be a great addition (Laser guided?) i dont think its quite essential at this moment. |

ah i forgot to meantion, i couldnt tell you how many times im flying my dropship or driving my LAV and i go the entire match without a kill, and result in horrible SP by the end of the match. I'd really recommend some way of compensating the drivers and pilots by awarding them just as much SP for the vehicular kill assists as the gunners are getting for the kills. Maybe track assists on the kill board and award SP accordingly? |

On the idea of having a combat ceiling... NO. Its a perfectly good tactic to sit on top of a building and provide overwatch. Yes, it sucks when you are the only one trying to get rid of the enemy on top, but once grouping is added, rolling with friends will be much easier. Ask your friend to get a swarm launcher out. Problem = solved. You forget that this game is going to be insanely competitive in null sec. Putting an artificial cap on vehicle capabilities is limiting to strategy and tactics. In 0.0 space, you will want to be able to win any way possible. Currently, the issue is not the dropships, but the teamwork. Fix that and your problem will go away.
Also, it isn't really that challenging to fly a dropship straight and level currently. But I am all up for more modules. |

the graphics for sitting in the dropship should look as graphic as it does on the outside. and i agree that putting a altitude cap would be stupid and limit gameplay. though full exp/sp should be rewarded to the brave drivers and pilots who risk getting shot by tank, rocket laucher, etc. |

I like the module idea. Pro pilots should be able to stop ship and get the turret. In metter of fact...it wan't be long because someone with sniper rifle or swarm gun you can stop some one beeing Ace and turn him in to junk |

you do get WP for vehicle kill assists. same as a regular kill assist. and you get them for just driving. |

yeah but with those XT turrets its only a couple of shots before the guy with the swarm launcher is dead. all that aside i just wish i could hover so when im moving to pick new passengers up from across the map, i can stop for a second and attack a target of opportunity.
as for what someone else said about the combat ceiling... i see where youre coming from, i didnt factor in the whole teamwork thing, i think youre right when it comes to that. once im able to get a team together i should be able to address the issue of guys on top of those towers better. i still think its extremely cheap when they do it though, the fact still remains that its a pain in the backside that one missile turret can cover half the map. although i did see a uplink from a teammate on top of the MCC once. i thought it was also 'not supposed to happen' because i spawned there and couldnt order a DS on top of it
side question, what exactly are war points used for??? |

I like the altitude lock idea but I would also like a better way of changing seats on the craft so that i dont have to press triangle 6 times to get back into the pilot's seat. |

they havent really explained war points, but at one point they mentioned calling in tanks and or orbital strikes would be limited by war points i thought, you would have to score so many points b4 you can rain fiery death is the way i understood it |

ah, that would be a nice perk to helping balance things. i wonder if certain modules will cost more wp than others when theyre on a tank. |

theres no telling, they might assign WP values to them, they might just asign WP values to the vehicle itself and the better gear the more bang for your buck |

Where are these guided missiles that I've been missing? Last I checked they were just plain missiles.
The rockets are actually pretty accurate, it just requires the pilot to slow down and/or come to a hover. My gunners have been able to get incredibly accurate shots when I'm not zooming around the sky at 200 km/h.
That aside, I do think dropship pilots are in need of some means of gaining SP beyond simply roadkilling whatever you get a chance to. There should be [additional] points for:
-Squad spawns -Team spawns -Assists
I think there should also be some method that tracks players who've dropped from a dropship and captured an objective, giving the dropship pilot additional points for a sort of proxy-assist. |

I kinda like a lot of the ideas that have been posted here. I know my dropship-loving borther would like to get points for just piloting the damn things and letting everyone else kill for him. I do agree that Dropship pilots needs a means to obtaining SP, because otherwise he'd have to stop piloting and start killing to play the game and have decent setup for himself.
And yeah, that altimeter and speedometer UI is really needed for these things. |

One idea I have heard from other players is to give small increments in Skill Points to the pilot when someone leaps out of the dropship. Like maybe 10 SP or so with a bigger chunk of 15 SP when someone spawns in said dropship. |
