as the title says...if using in game comms
you should not be able to speak or give out intel on a shooter if your face has been removed from your body
it just adds to the realism |

Well, really all you're asking for is a 10 second blackout while respawning. The rest of the time you're bleeding out, which means you're still alive. |

To be fair, seeing as you can't turn your head anyway the info you can give would be pretty minimal. |

Ok. or we can pretend this is a video game, and I am having a conversation with my friends while I'm playing.
TBQH, if they did something like this, my friends and I, and I'm sure many others, would just use Teamspeak. Ohhh, maybe they should link DUST to Teamspeak so you can't talk there either, eh?
I get that you want "teh realism" but man... this is a video game, made for fun. Why would you even ask for such a thing, unless you never use comms to begin with? (or.. have no friends to talk to? ) |

Greetings,
Renzo Kuken wrote:it just adds to the realism Ummm, your consciousness is transferred instantly to a new body the instant you die... So why should you lose comms?
Additionally were this to be changed, people would simple cease using the comms provided in game and switch to using external comms (Mumble, Teamspeak, etc)... Actually I know a couple of people who have already switched. If it is too hard to use the tools in the game, people will meta-game which becomes far more difficult to control.

pretty sure you cant talk while your essence is being transfered
just imagine that you and another merc are pinned down and you are planning an excape route
"yeah i think that if we lay down suppressive fire on their left flank we could......."
a headshot ceases your partners ability to finish his sentence
while it will be for a few seconds the ability to talk would be granted once you spawn back in
immersive gameplay
i know its a game and its meant to be fun, but this is the first game universe thats bringing in a real "war" the closest thing to a war that you are gonna get unless you enlist in your respective countries military
is it wrong to ask for a bit more realism? |

Additionally, you are not talking verbally, instead you are using implants in your prime clone to communicate, so there is no communication disruption. Finally, your clone doesn't generally die until you press the "suicide" button, so it makes perfect sense that he continues to communicate until he chooses to clone jump back.

Many games will get you much closer to realism. Dust is set around 25,000 - 50,000 years into the future in a completely different galaxy. There are alien races and mankind has evolved and diverged in New Eden to the point where they have almost become separate species in their own right.
Finally, as I stated previously though, the real kicker is that this change would cause most people to use different comms system at which point, they will still be able to communicate even when the server is down... In fact there are a number of people who already do this. What you are proposing will just make that worse.

In fact there are a number of us who are actually holding real and game changing discussions in there occasionally... Often times to ourselves as there are not enough people with mics, but every now and then you will get a full group that have comms and roflstomp the enemy. ;)

you dont get it
2 corps in EVE declare war on each other where the entire game concept is built around player run corporations that fight each other over resources and hire mercs on the ps side to do the dirty work....how is this not exactly like a war IRL
i wasent talking about simulating war like ARMA i am talking about real people fighting each other over ingame assets
so like i said in my previous post this is a form of war...granted its just a video game but its still a version of war that i havent seen any other game succesfuly emulate |

Cool idea but unfortunately absolutely impossible to do.
Third party voice comms are already in use and will be in the future. No need to handicap PS3/Dust voice and make it a losers choice. |
