Personally I think those who specialise with reviving should be actually really good CQC, with SMG's (VERY good with the right skills) and shotguns. A good example to how Dust classes should work is the Flash game Pawn Tactics, in fact there is no better example. Each class had its own specialisation and weakness. In their case medics had shotguns. Heavy's were slow but had high armour etc. |

I completely agree, nanite injectors should NOT be replaced, team based shooters are all about specialization. Since im not the greatest shooter, I tend to play medic or other support roles in FPS, this has proven very difficult in DUST, because the game lacks a lot of UI elements as well as game mechanics to make the "healing" work.
Some of those elements have allready been mentioned
- lack of a "downed team mate" icon in the mini map
- lack of a "medic (someone with the nanite injector equipped)" icon while downed
- There should be at least a 5 second timer before the player is able to commit suicide
Besides pulling out your nanite injector (thats sounds kinky) is too clunky, you either spam R2 untill it shows up or you have to open the weapon wheel and select it.
Why not have a pop up that allows to instantly revive someone when they are in range (if you have the injector in your inventory) a similar system is used in Killzone 3.
Last but not least this guy won the argument

^^ Pretty good suggestions
As long as there's option to decline as sometimes it's just better to commit suicide than to waste time dying twice. E.g Medics reviving players in middle of battle.
It would also be nice to actually be able to tell a team mate is a medic, maybe showing players specialization trough different icon? |

Great post by Herr von Hurna, but I wanted to add my voice to the chorus asking for these things that would enable the medic role for DUST:

Everybody should be able to revive there mates by just standing by them and pressing the x button or any button you choose to assign. they do that in GEARS OF WAR THREE you dont need any special needles or any other **** just STAND BY THEM AND HIT THE F BUTTON AND AWAY YOU BOTH GO!!!!!!

Just put the red cross symble over the downed mate there would be a 10 sec window to get to him before he bleeds out hit the f button and up he goes. I thought the guy was trolling tbh. Then I read his replies and thought... "Oh dear, he actually is being honest!"
This forum needs a dislike button. What, is CCP afraid of having players feelings hurt? We are in EVE for gosh sakes! |

To be honest i think the nanite injectors are bugged.
On defense we got pushed back to the back end of the map so I was surrounded by team mates.
Thought it might be worth a shot to try out a logistics suit. I moved up and saw a person engaged in a fire fight and waited. Sure enough they went down and I ran up nanite injector in hand. When I approached the body I got the option to inject them and after pounding the trigger button, the animation played of me injecting myself with the nanites instead of the team mate who promptly suicided.
O.o ?
What happened here? nanite injectors are only supposed to work on team mates not your self what happened? |

The Nanites are an essential part of the game play, as in real life, not everyone is a medic. In the game MAG, they had a similar tool to revive people. It had a little range to it which mad things easier but the "Medic" role is very defining piece of a FPS. Battlefield has a medic class as well. This medic class however does not work. It is impossible to tell who is available for revive, i believe an icon above a wounded teammates head would increase revives and encourage more people to play as medics upon being able to see all their wounded teammates.

I'm a logistics/triage specialist so I use this tool a lot. I understand that it's difficult, especially right now, to use in the game. Between the lack of a party system and the bugs related to the injector-to-body triggers, it's more of a chore. But when my team actually listens and understands that I am what I am, I can usually rack up 5-10 revives in any given match. The nanite injector -- really all nanocircuit technology -- is heavily team-centric; you can't expect to throw down a drop uplink and have it be completely used up over the course of a battle. People might just not want to spawn there. Same can be said for people who die right now. They just don't want to take 3 seconds to wait for me to pick them up, when I know that I'm completely capable of killing the one who downed them AND injecting the ally.
This "request" is completely idiotic. It stems from being frustrated about dying too much around allies who either can't or won't revive. It's unfortunate, but MANY of the people on this passed weekend weren't privy to the knowledge that the full closed beta testers are. They, more than likely, were overwhelmed with how much content there already is, didn't read everything, didn't chose logistics(the illiterate), and definitely didn't see any value in it beyond looking like the original Fallout powersuit.
Logistics needs a lot of TLC to get up to where it should be, and we all, hopefully, know that by now. Until it's refined, I honestly don't want anyone without a microphone and solid communication abilities to attempt to fill this role.
So no, OP, they shouldn't scrap the injector and let everybody just spam a button to revive the most technologically advanced soldiers in the universe. It should require specialization, intelligence and teamwork.

From the EVE Side i think it should be more complex!
But from the gameplay side, every aspect that support the spirit of teamplay should be in the game. |

All & anyone should be able to stand beside a wounded team mate & heal them by pressing x for an allotted time. They can, you choose whether or not to have the equipment on you. And this is NOT Gears of War. This is DUST 514. You can get Militia Nanite Injectors in the market. The whole thing about Dust is much the same as in Eve. Which is to say, that much like in life, not everyone is going to go out into the world or on the streets with a first aide kit or anything like that. You as a person making the choices of your character decides whether or not having the piece of equipment is worth the cost have having it for that "kinda situation." It is a game about choice, and some are not easy. They are attempting to produce not just a game but another version of and extension to community. Enjoy it for it's complexity, for variety is the spice of life and you always learn more from mistakes than you do from getting it right all the time, or taking the smooth path.
Yeah definiteley Not GEARS OF WAR THERE IS TRULY THE ONLY GAME TO COME OUT IN A DECADE THAT IS NOT LIKE THE REST DUST 514 IS JUST ANOTHER FPS SHOOTER .! |

If people could see there was a medic right by them, they wouldn't press O to respawn so quick. Dumbing the game down by just giving everyone the ability to revive is not the answer. If you want to win, your team needs logi dropsuits. Please don't try and dumb down the game, please. |

FK the nanite inj give us all the power to revive our team mates.!!! You do realize how stupid this sounds right? I always thought that was one of the most inane things in gears. Just because you helped me up doesn't mean I suddenly stopped bleeding. If I'm bleeding out enough that I can't get up, I need a field medic. Now if you were suggesting something like allowing allied players to grab my bleeding body and drag it back to cover for medical support, we'd be having a different discussion. I for one, would like to see my idea implemented. A good number of times when someone dies, it's in a place that's very difficult for a medic to get to without getting gunned down.
What the hell you talking about it gives you the chance to get back in the game like in gears it heals enough for you to go and yeah you do stop bleeding but if your hit again within 1 min your dead but you got the chance to at least get a kill or two in!!

Garrett Blacknova wrote:What I'm hearing is "I want Gears of War" when what I should be hearing is "not enough people are healing each other.
Part of the problem is the lack of experience/understanding by the playerbase.
Everyone suicides immediately when they go down, everyone KNOWS that everyone else will suicide as soon as they go down, and nobody can tell at a glance when a teammate is just down or when they're actually dead, and nobody can tell when a teammate nearby is able to revive them.
If an example has to be used, Gears is NOT the relevant example. Brink is (in spite of the MANY things it did HORRIBLY wrong).
When someone goes down, all Medics on that player's team have the downed player marked on the map as an objective, and the downed player has all medics shown on his/her screen as well. The downed player is able to quickly tell if help is on the way or not, and the healers can quickly see where they're needed.
Something similar in DUST would be nice.
Also, I'm a fan of the suggestion to force a 5 second delay before suiciding, and cut all respawn times by 5 seconds. That would also work nicely.
Everyone along with me commits suicides because there is no help they way it is right know! Because everyone is in a Assult,Heavy Dropsuits no one is wearing Logistics suits because there is no fire power with them all they are is bullet sponges!!! |
