Once you aim down the sight for a certain length of time, the sway almost completely goes away. I prefered using the Charge Sniper Rifle - it seemed to be the only one with 1-hit kill capabilities for most classes.
The reason sniping is hard in most fps games is that there is almost no reason to choose a sniper rifle over an assault rifle.
Most fire fights in video games occur within the effective range of assault rifles, leaving snipers vulnerable. Assault rifle users can fight at almost any range, unlike snipers. At distances beyond those of an AR (I did notice the limited range of ARs in dust) it's usually very hard to hit an opponent with a sniper rifle anyway.
Some players were using dropships to get onto the buildings, then placed a spawn beacon there.
I had quite a bit of fun spawning up there and picking people off, though we were still vulnerable to attack from assault rifles below and from dropships above. |

I find the sniper rifles are fine(I know I suck with them but still enjoy using them) although the draw distance when scoped should be increased(I want to know if those red arrows are behind a hill or not). |

what they rely should do if anything at a perk to the higher up snipers that give you a point to shot at when some one in your scope is moving to help you trap or lead the guy you want to shoot |

I can see that as a high CPU cost module, but not a perk. |

I have also noticed if you actually are moving the reticule around scoped, it kills sway. Its just the moment you stop moving it and are stationary the sway kicks in. |

They can be hit, but not with any reliability. |

Aming isnt that easy yes, but its far from impossible, try another Sniper Rifle, its easier because of the higher ammunition and damage. |

I think you need to be able to walk the target. Right now your stick moves at a certain distance, at a greater rate of speed. IOW the dead spot on the stick is too large. You should be able to slightly push the button, and get slight movement on the site. Right now you go from no movement to too much movement with too large a dead spot in between the points, once they fix this i think Sniping will be more realistic, but as it stands you can still kill things from a large distant but a little more luck is involved. |

This is why I hate analogue controls. Yeah, hopefully it will be improved upon moving forward, but m/kb support will make the problem obsolete anyway. |

In most other games i can make small adjustments to my targeting by moving my charactger left to right, but this makes the sway kick in again, its a pain in the ass because the right stick isnt precise enough when you need it too (long range counter sniping), but all in all once you get used to the idea that you dont have to run around and mix it up in qq you can really do some damage on the field, I'm even getting the hang of quick scope shots (if you do it fast enough your recticle usually is on target and than sways. Aagain the sniper proficiency skill goes a long way. |

im not here to try an troll you about sniping but i have used the milta sniper an gone 19-4 its easy as hell to snipe if your use to cods sniping or battlefield thats not realistic sniping on here you have to take other things into consideration like distance an crouching an aiming an leading the target pretty much like a real sniper not pick up the rifle quick scope an shoot thats fake an not how sniping is sniping is wonderful how it is |

Realizing I'm pretty damn late to this thread, I got myself on top of the western building near C in Skirmish and went 11/1 with a Tactical rifle. The rate of fire more than makes up for the lesser damage. |

My issue isnt with the sniper precision, but the glitchy movement of the dropsuits you try to shoot. Its like it skips animatns or they blink around when moving ie around firing at something. Looks as if they are dodging.
Makes it impossible to track them. I think its a distance issue, because when I'm tracing someone close, I dont have the problem. |

Johnny Guilt wrote:Jonquill Caronite wrote:I'm sorry, to all the people who say that sniping is fine the way it is, I suggest they go pick up any of Tom Clancey's shooters and turn off all the aim assists. THAT's the type of precision movement we should have on our gun control. I can easilly aim and hit a target in that game, and it has **** to do with aim assist, the controls are just better, they offer much better variable sensitivity on the controller.
Of course pardon me for a second on this particular rant, because honestly it may be the controllers or the consoles to... I have yet to confirm this by playing enough PS3 games to be sure, but I was told there was a sensitivity dead zone on most PS3 controllers that was caused by the actual programming, if this is the case, then CCP is working with what they were given. Unfortunately i hope this isn't the case, because there are certainly games that have gotten aim sensitivity WAY WAY WAY better then this game. And no once again, it is not just you sucking, don't believe the hype, its BS. Aim assist shouldnt even be considered in sniping when you always LEAD THE SHOT As for the fail snipers complaining about the snipers sway, get over it;sniping is about patience
Hate to point this out, but in my quote I said:
Quote: and turn off all the aim assists.
The point was, and I thought this would be clear to anyone who actually read the post, that other games have better sensitivity control, and better handling and ALLOW players to demonstrate superior skill and strategy rather then learning to play with clunky controls and fighting the mechanics... Did I say it couldn't be done? No anyone who spends enough time grinding away with ANY control set can eventually master it, but that doesn't mean all control sets are made equal, and this all applies regardless of aim assist, I dont support aim assist in fact. Just good quality sensitivity control that allows the player to focus more on the game, and less on compensating for crap controls. |
