Even if you don't play EVE, you might have some interest in the following news as most long term DUST players dealt with Aurum at some point:
Quote:Aurum had its run but we are excited to move forward with PLEX only. https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/plex-changes-on-the-way/ This also makes me wonder if Aurum will not be seen in Project Nova and we will instead see PLEX.

Pokey Dravon wrote:I thinking making AUR be the PLEX of Nova would be reasonable.
Not sure what they're planning in terms of cost (if any) to play the game, but having a granular resource that can be purchased with cash and then traded to other players or used for various things such as cosmetics and the sort, seems like a reasonable model to follow. It's a possibility but I don't know how much of one it is. As a dev/publisher, when you are wanting to get players/customers interested in different products for the same family/series, you normally stay as consistent as possible to make it simplest for players/customers to switch between those products. Therefore, keeping AUR for a new game when it has been phased out for an older game wouldn't make much since. I think the most plausible is that both games have PLEX as the purchasable currency but they would be separate and not interchangeable. Of course, this is all thinking between EVE and Project Nova as I do not know what currencies are available in Gunjack or Valkyrie which are also supposed to take place within the EVE universe.

Pokey Dravon wrote:I understand what you're getting at but I also worry that people may start to think that you could use PLEX obtained in Nova would be usable for their EVE accounts. So I'm not sure what's more confusing, being consistent or not lol Yeah but CCP is kind of in a unique situation by pushing their EVE universe within different games. I guess Blizzard has a similar situation with their WoW based games such as WoW itself, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm but as I've only played Hearthstone, I am not sure how they handle purchases between all games. Maybe the EVE launcher will turn into the CCP store to cover all games with the understanding purchases within games are separate.

Pokey Dravon wrote:I mean we saw how much confusion was caused by DUST and EVE both having ISK. So much so that Valkyrie just uses "VISK" to avoid the same issue. In that case then, so much for EVE Phoenix as I don't see CCP going for PISK. Of course, NISK (for Nova) does not sound that great either. Seriously though, if integration is in fact planned between EVE and Nova at some point in the future, I would think the same overall in game currency (ISK) would have to be used. The pay-for currency not so much where either AUR or PLEX may work. As for Gunjack and Valkyrie, they are short term one offs which is why I really don't know why a delineation had to be made for their currencies.

Back on topic, I've had the thought of buying some PLEX lately only as I am guessing there will be a slightly higher cost to PLEX when the changeover takes place. After all, such a changeover would be the perfect time to add in a price hike especially if you can make it not that noticeable. Besides, I figure I have spent enough time in EVE lately as an Alpha as well as recently maxed out my skill tree as an Alpha where I might as well pay for a 3 month subscription.

FYI: The PLEX changeover has appeared to have happened today as saw an ad on the launcher for PLEX "now starting at $5" (when was previously $20 for 1).
