The PS4 Slim is on 30% discount here until the end of the month and I'm currently trying to convince the credit card-masters to cooperate lol...

I was late to getting a PS4 too. Here's some helpful hints I found along the way:
- PS4 Communities are basically giant shout boards. I've yet to find one useful with any scheduled events.
- Every trophy you earn automatically gets saved as a picture. I did not realize that until I researched why my original HDD was filling up.
- Internet is heavily needed to play PS4 games. One day when my internet went down, I was unable to play alot of my PS4 games.
- Several games use the touchscreen which is pretty useful. It not only works for directional swipe but additional buttons too.
- Do not forget to use Rest mode. Games and game updates are so huge any more that if you do not update via Rest mode, you'll be waiting quite a while to hop on your favorite online games.
- The controllers were made with couch party games in mind where almost all games show player colors in game as the same color on their controller. Super handy when couch party gaming with non-gamers.
I am sure there are more but the above are what immediately came to mind.

My PS4 is one of the first, with the over-sensitive disk eject that keeps throwing the disk at me. I've wondered whether it might be worth just trading it in for a slim or the super one. The slim probably uses more power and likely doesn't have the disk eject problem. The pro would be cool for the speed, though. |
