I am wondering if this is a bug or not but my name (also on eve) is Marco Marques and it tells me it is already taken, is this a bug from the deletion of our characters from the past build? |

If I remember correctly, names are now linked between EVE and Dust and therefore they have to be unique. |

The names would be shared between the two and your DUST character would be different from an EVE character as they will both exist in the same game names among players, corporations, and alliances would be unique. |

AFAIK, biomassing a character does not free up the name, biomassed characters are saved in the database still and thus, even though unplayable, still keep the name from being taken.
Anyone else confirm? |

I have deleted and reused names for EVE and DUST successfully. Not tried deleting an EVE and trying the name on DUST however. |

The inability to use the name of a freshly biomassed Eve character in Dust is probably a mirroring issue that will self correct when they next mirror the data - I've had similar issues on the Eve test server, might be the same reason. |

Guess that answers my question as to whether or not its lorefriendly to have your EVE character also go fight planetside. |

Dust tech and Capsuleer clone tech are two different mindset of technologies, Capsuleer is jovain based and divered from the dust 514 tech which is sleeper based.
Capsuleer focuses more on control of starships while dust 514 tech only focuses on preserving the concious and knowledge/experince of a person and being able to shove that into a meat golem genetically engineered for war.
Now, in thoery capsuleer tech should be able to upgrade into the dust technology albit modified. |

It's not Sleeper based. Sleepers just inhabit the space it's found in. And i doubt Sleepers would care about researching Organic technology, either way.
Both types are Jovian.
Both types have different Specs to be used. Capsuleers have to live in Spaceships and control those Spaceships in realtime. Mercenaries have to know how exactly to keep their equipment, weapons and dropsuits from immediately shutting down/self destructing in the worst case when they try to use them, and doing the complete wrong thing in the best case. (Healing the enemy team, for instance.)
Mercenaries = Earn less than Capsuleers. Mercenaries = Want to be Capsuleers and wouldn't fight another battle for poor pay if they could.
Not lore-friendly, no. |

May or may not be related, but if you only give a first name, the system feedback states "name already taken".
However when you input a last name, the error goes away and allows the name to be used, at least that was my experience. |

That only happened with this wipe because when some people had created their Dust merc they were able to use names already owned by capsuleers. Now that the back end is connected to the eve servers and all names are finally unique they'll probably only wipe our isk and skill points. |
