Anyone else ever ask themselves that? I ask myself this every other time I visit this forum.
Only logical reason I've come up with is habit as I don't have much interest in Project Nova (not a PC gamer) but there has been decently long spans of time where I hadn't visited yet I always end up finding my way back here.
What's your reason?

I always ask this question of the people who bitterly insist that Nova will never come out and that it's all a lie. It's like eating a bag of chips that are a flavor you hate and bitching that it's a flavor you hate.
If you're so sure that it's all pointless, then just leave. Otherwise I'm just going to assume you're full of **** and actually are holding onto some semblance of hope, despite what you're openly insisting.

I'm hoping CCP will end up paying for psychiatric treatment for all of us. It's pretty apparent everyone here needs it at this point.
But really part of me wants to see Nova fail, not to rub it in faces here but to say to myself "ha, I knew it you f*cks (CCP)". The other part of me is hoping the spirit of Dust will be reincarnated one day. Nova may succeed on some level, but I doubt it will be the tied to EVE OB dropping vehicle/ground troop tactical bonanza that Dust was going for and ever so slightly scraped.
Also, pretty much every gamer I ever run into and ask if they played Dust either never heard of it or never played it.......
It's good to be around your own kind.......
And not the PC owning I quit Dust 3 months in but still want to lord my imaginary knowledge and flawed ideas over people kind.... |

From what I have gathered from others' replies, people keep coming here because games since DUST has not filled the hole DUST left. I mean in other console games where is the freaking clan support where you can do things like recruiting. Destiny has clan support but it is a joke not even comparing it to what DUST had.
Also, where is huge chat capability. IDK about you but I still think it is BS PS4 Party is limited to 8 people and when in-game you can only chat with your squad (in all the games I've played).
Taking those into consideration, I wonder if there will ever be another console game even close to DUST. On console, games pretty much only have an annual lifecycle where I guess devs think clan support is not worth it and without clans/corps, you don't need to have the huge chat capability.
Alright, I guess I will end my post here as I am beginning to get sad coming to the realization actual clan/corp support may never be seen in another console game.

I turn up here every day without fail to see if there's any progress at all on NOVA. I never actually believe there will be and I hold a suspicion that we are just being strung along in a futile hope that one day there will be a small sliver of light from CCP. I refuse to get emotionally involved in whatever might occur, because 1. it might not occur at all, 2. it might not be what I'm hoping for even if it does (many of you know what I mean), 3. getting emotionally involved in a game that as far as we know isn't even vapourware yet is just sad. Sorry, Pokey, but hearsay isn't progress.
I also don't want to throw any form of energy at CCP who is clearly interested more in their pet VR projects than they are in the product stream that gave them life - EvE Online and whatever offshoots of the New Eden world that they could produce. The dedicated EvE Online fan base is what made CCP, who appear to be content to roll out new content to the existing game and never expand it outside of that game. The VR offerings are not "expansions", as while they operate in the New Eden world, they have no real connection with EvE Online itself. EvE Online will likely continue as its own dwindling little universe surrounded by VR games that purport to exist in that universe but are only using the hardware to host the games. |

I'm just hoping they will see all the people still in the forums and launch the game again! even if its for a limited time. even if its until you run out all the gear you never used before it ended?! it took me not having it to see that I'm sort of addicted to it! haha. come on dev's... give pc a break for a little while and hook up the ps players once again. bring back dust for 6 months so we can get a fix!! |

Sorry to say but I am pretty sure that is not possible any more. Not even going into servers on CCP side, I am pretty sure a new agreement would have to be made with Sony to get DUST 514 back up on the PS3 which I am pretty sure neither CCP nor Sony would want to put any effort toward at this point. In any case, I am not sure if any full form of DUST still exists.

Speaking of high school reunions, from my experience there are only 2 types of people who go to high school reunions; (1) people who peaked in high school so they come back to relive their former glory and (2) people who did not have a good time in high school but want to come back to show off what they've accomplished since then.
As for those that remain here, we just hadn't found a new game good enough for our tastes to be totally addicted to yet. In that respect, we are more like people who recently split with their ex yet still constantly talk about our ex when secretly we kind of want our ex back but are mostly hoping for something better to come along in the future.

I did but got bored, it's fun with friends or a decent group but bs solo..it takes to long to go up a rank when 1 loss will derank you or that was my experience when it started on pc |

Yes that's right. I don't believe there will be any news, but I know I can be wrong. I'm hoping I am, that's why I still come by here.
As far as your being the underdog, that's only because you keep telling us to basicly wait and see, but like I said, hearsay is not progress. When I see even an Alpha I'll know they're serious. Until then, vapourware is still vapourware. :) |

Just wondering is there ANY other game that has ever had this level of addiction amongst its players? My guess is the only other game that would come close is EvE Online, due to the persistent nature of it, and the fact that many players basicly live their lives online in New Eden with RL only taking the role of providing the means by which they can continue to do so.
On the one hand I think it's sad that anyone can be that dedicated to a game, on the other, I wonder why it is that we still can't live our lives in New Eden and make real money out of it. There are online worlds where one can do exactly that but CCP doesn't want the tax implications, which is reasonable. However, it would certainly be a major game changer were we ever to be able to (legally) do that! Think of online Dust battles where we could be employed by corporations for real money, to fight battles for them. That would be so cool. |

I check in periodically to see what's up, the moment CCP releases anything I will gleefully tear it to shreds or shower it with unreasonable praise, though I too anticipate a long wait at best. CCP is very clearly focused on other things, whether or not NOVA is actually in progress it seems clear (from the outside at least) that CCP just has and has for a long time had other priorities. The DUST IP simply is not a priority for them (overall, again from the outside looking "in").
I do find it funny that I've seen some CCP apologists claim SC would be vapourware, which really just makes me giggle like the bloodthirsty poorly skilled demon that I am

It's a gradual weighted system. The more often you win the more each additional win increases your rank. The more you lose the more each additional loss will decrease your score.

Well, that's a delightful surprise. I was prepared for more a "Well, who are you?" kind of reply. I met a lot of players and posted a ton here throughout DUST. Even though I was admittedly not the best player, I was not afraid to keep going after objectives and specific enemies so hopefully at least in that respect I was memorable in game. Plus, I pulled off some crazy DS/ADS stuff which is what I was mostly known for in my corp (besides being founder and sometimes CEO).

Yes your gameplay around objectives meant we tussled many a time. You may not remember me but you were a scout I believe quite nifty with a SG and I was a ****** up dampened Amarr Logi. I rarely came across you in an ADS because I avoided those like fVck.. Me not silly.. I would say it was during my one armed/ strong armed bandits days. Fun fact for you your name spelt backwards is nearly demon speed ..always made chuckle |
