...the main reason for delay behind Project Nova was simply making it VR compatible? I know there have been theories the delay is due to adding PVE, investing into the game to the point where it truly feels a part of the EVE universe, etc but what if it is simply due to CCP Shanghai riding the VR train all the more further? To me, I could care less about VR. If I was still waiting for Project Nova, I know I would be deeply irritated to find out VR was a big part of the delay.

Well...For one I don't think that's what they're doing but let's assume they are for the moment.
How many FPS games out there support VR? And I don't mean the arcadey mini game style shooter, I mean something on the scale of a full title.
It would potentially be a strong selling point for people who own VR. However the VR market is still relatively small so it's tough to hang a main selling point on VR right now unless the game is specifically designed to be a VR game like Valkyrie.

Both of which require VR because they are designed specifically for VR.
I highly doubt the plan is to make Nova require VR.

Pretty fun theory, but yeah I can't imagine an FPS going VR yet. I think it would be pretty awesome bragging rights to be first on the scene, but at the same time it would be a huge gamble I think. Honestly though, I do not think it would serve as anything more than media hype for the CCP brand. A spotlight, but not very practical. At least not now.

It's probably taking a long time because they have a small team with minimal resources putting together the game on a new (though familiar) engine.
It feels like it's taking even longer because there's 0 transparency, just like how Legion was.

FYI there is already a good FPS on VR, it's called Onward. Same guys behind Squad, who are currently making the successor to Project Reality.

Hmmm I'd have to see about that one. I didn't particularly care for Squad, just wasn't my cup of tea.

I think its possible because of their last two title. I belive that its huge bragging rights to come out with the first vrfps game in the mainstream of big titles. Selling point if you wanna sell a huge video game company in the billions of dollars worth.
Do you guys know any company selling for almost a billion dollar.
Just asking.

This. While I wouldn't be "annoyed" by it, it simply makes no sense. VR, by the nature of the hardware, is probably least likely to be successful with something like a shooter. I seriously doubt that CCP is doing this.
I think it's much more likely simply a small team, with low resources, and CCP's inevitable redesign everything five times and still get it mostly wrong.

NO. I don't. Do you?
CCP isn't a "huge gaming company" Nor are they worth billions of dollars.

Squad isn't exactly seeming to become the successor to Project Reality as it should be but I've heard that some of the modders are working on a unreal engine version of it. Project Reality is worth a check as it is free and has a dedicated community, it was a mod for B2....

I think my opinion would depend upon how it was pulled off. If they could create a VR FPS that worked out enough of the kinks to be fun, playable, and interesting long term, without harming the regular PC product, I would be very happy.
If the attempt was a failure, I would probably be upset that they wasted resources instead of focusing on making the regular PC version better, especially considering the issues of Dust.
That being said, unlikely does not seem like a strong enough word to describe the probability of Nova being developed for VR. First, there simply isn't enough experience in the entire video game industry to pull it off easily. Production like this is very trial-and-error. You don't want to take a huge risk at this stage, because you know the first VR FPS games just aren't going to cut it. The first attempts will likely be smaller in scale, with limited resources, knowing that the projects will not likely yield short and medium term financial success. Which brings me to my second point, that Nova, as a project, and CCP, as a company, are not in position to take such financial risks at this point.

While I do agree it would not make logical sense for CCP to spend time making Project Nova VR compatible, it is CCP we are talking about here. This is the same company that spent 3 to 6 months early into DUST 514 tweaking sounds when there were a ton of big issues that needed taken care of. In short, CCP's decisions do not always appear to be within the bounds of logic (from what I've seen any way).

From what I understand, all those people who made the miriad of bad decisions early on in Dust were removed. I think it would be an error to judge what Rattati et al will possibly do by what the previous group did.
Just look at Dust. Rattati made many balance tweeks that the previous group refused to consider while they built many things that were intended to be used far into the future. The current team learned from the mistakes of the past one. That is why they started from scratch with UE4 instead of using legacy junk code with UE3.
I don't anticipate significant, poor decision making by this project team.

The only reason why there's no "real" VR first person shooter is not due to hardware limitations or else. It is mainly because of motion sickness. See, and those of you who tried a VR game can say the same, the immersion is *total*. Games are so immersive that your brain does *not* "perceive the difference" of you walking in VR and you walking in real life. And here's why anyone would feel sick soon after playing a VR FPS.
Your brain perceive you are moving, but it also perceive that you are comfortably sat on your chair. It gives back conflicting informations: your eyes tell your brain that you are indeed moving, but ears doesn't perceive any movement at all, muscles are relaxed etc. Hence, you feel sick.
Now, there are some ways to avoid this problem but they're either too expansive (I believe it was Samsung, trying to solve the problem basically by sending impulses to the ears) or would require way too many accessories (but, nontheless it would be the coolest videogame if it were like this).
So, I don't think so. Unless they completely overturn project nova making it a shooter on rail, but I'm pretty confident it won't happen...

In the dark ages some people had to wait for there FPS because some dingbat was trying to integrate Kinect features.
I think it is plausible to worry we will suffer a similar fate except replace Kinect with VR, however I would not bet money on it, so I will nerdrage over more solid facts.
dust514 is NOT a team sport like football, Most players would make their team lose if it got their squad more kills.
