Pondering about Project Nova (as I have to as there has been zero actual news since April 2016), I wondered what the chance was of Project Nova having PVE along with PVP. After all, it seemed to have been drilled enough into CCP by players with DUST 514 that PVE would have aided in new player experience as jumping directly into PVP was somewhat brutal to new players. Afterall, CCP even made a DUST trailer showing PVE against hovering drones. Of course, that never happened. To get back to topic, what do you think the chance of the being both PVE and PVP available in Nova; high or low? My guess is low as CCP seems to rarely learn from their mistakes.

This is purely speculation on my part, but stay with me: the reason we have had to wait this long is possibly due to PvE. PvP is pretty straight forward to develop as the players provide the "content" themselves by pewing at each other. PvE though, that requires a slew of talent to create AI/pathfinding, narrative, possibly voice acting, etc.
I repeat, this is speculation, but CCP Shanghai really doesn't want to **** up again with nova. They don't want to only offer a PvP experience, as was the case in DUST 514. They want to add to the game in a big way. Thus: PvE.

I always disliked the self defeating skill progression of Dust 514. While everyone starts out without any advantages when the game first starts, the game becomes increasingly hostile to future new players, because as time passes the percentage of players with extensively well equipped progression trees only rises which means steeper competition for new players.
This also means that newer players are more pressured to spend money on boosters. It's like a pyramid scheme. I am not sure if PVE can successfully resolve this issue.

Nothing official or unofficial. Simply the direction I think they'll go based off of all of the information publically available.

By all intents and purposes, PVE as an general idea is pretty vague. This could vary from (1) a simple initial tutorial versus bots for only brand new players, (2) to training missions to help new players catch up with vets in PVP, (3) to full out ongoing and seasonal missions that will change over time to be utilized by all players. In any case, if CCP Shanghai gets FPS PVE figured out, they can continuously build on to it which would be a good thing for all players.

Indeed. Simply having an AI engine is extremely useful for both gameplay and as a tool to support other systems such as tutorials and simulations.

I liked the idea they had for Legion of Scavenging grounds where you can collect a resource, but there are also NPC Drones collecting that resource, and if you get too close or something gets them riled up they might attack you, or you could attack them to get the resource that they had collected.
I am hoping that they will implement this idea in Nova, as it would tie nicely into an open economy and have PVE. However, I don't know that such a thing would be available at launch.
It would also be obvious as well as having public Scavenging grounds, to also have Planetary Conquest Districts be more lucrative Scavenging grounds, possibly with the number of Rogue Drones accumulating over time if they are not thinned out regularly. But again, Planetary Conquest will likely not be included at launch.
I wonder if there is something interesting that could be done with Factional Scavenging grounds. Maybe have some Faction Scavenging Drones collecting salvage for the war effort that will either come to your defense or attack you depending on your standing with their faction?
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

I think it depends on the timeframe you are considering.
At release, I would probably say low probability. I think they want to get core game play and EVE-ness down before branching out.
If you are talking within the first year or so after release, I think it is very high. Considering they were already discussing PvE for Dust, though it was just shooting drones.
It is very apparent they want that kind of game play. It is just a matter of time and resources.

Given how helpful Eve Online's recent NPE has helped newbros get a grip on the concept of how things go in Eve by using PvE as a medium, I wouldn't be surprised if CCP did implement PvE at least as a means to get players started.
By "Eve Online's recent NPE" I mean the Ascension update.

With Legion I would have said yes, but it doesn't seem to be the case with Nova.
For some reason CCP wants to repeat the mistake of trying to start with an arena shooter and build up from there. It doesn't work like that.

You get matched up with people around your SP bracket. So, maybe -1.5mil to +2mill would be anyone's range? If you ignore skill matchmaking (due to being a vehicle operator, or a support class), then it wouldn't necessarily be hard to get with people around your own SP level.
However, squads would make it harder on the system, and thus, should probably be calculated a bit differently.

If Nova has PvE a la Resistance 2 Co-op (being able to go in with a squad and kill stuff), then it'd be cool.
If it has a campaign, that'd be even cooler.
If it has both, it'd be close to perfection.

Don't let the bitter dissapointment consume you too much. They only quietly talk about the game being in development in off channels, so it's a stretch to expect confirmation of something as large as PVE.
Either way your frustration is understandable, but I would safely expect proper information at Fanfest if not a bit sooner.

As said, there are many different levels of PVE. Even if PVE was to be confirmed within Nova directly by a CCP dev, I am sure someone would be disappointed in one way or another by what CCP would provide.

If Activision or some other AAA dev tried to use CCP's playbook, you'd see some pissed of players moving off to titles from different devs. Somehow though, CCP is able to keep getting away with it.
Thing is people throw a fit but very rarely do you see a mass exodus from a particular developer due to behavior such as this. Gamers love to talk big and make threats but all too often even if they take a hiatus from a game or franchise...All too often will they return in due time.
In fact I would say that for a mainstream company, CCP is acting in accordance with what has, unfortunately, become somewhat of an industry norm. It doesn't make it OK by any means, but this sort of behavior doesn't particularly surprise me.
Unfortunately in most cases, the only place you'll get the kind of transparency you're looking g for are indie or other smaller studios producing smaller games. There are of course exceptions, buttypically speaking as developers get into larger and more expensive development, their openness tends to decrease.
