Nothing official or unofficial. Simply the direction I think they'll go based off of all of the information publically available.

Indeed. Simply having an AI engine is extremely useful for both gameplay and as a tool to support other systems such as tutorials and simulations.

Don't let the bitter dissapointment consume you too much. They only quietly talk about the game being in development in off channels, so it's a stretch to expect confirmation of something as large as PVE.
Either way your frustration is understandable, but I would safely expect proper information at Fanfest if not a bit sooner.

Thing is people throw a fit but very rarely do you see a mass exodus from a particular developer due to behavior such as this. Gamers love to talk big and make threats but all too often even if they take a hiatus from a game or franchise...All too often will they return in due time.
In fact I would say that for a mainstream company, CCP is acting in accordance with what has, unfortunately, become somewhat of an industry norm. It doesn't make it OK by any means, but this sort of behavior doesn't particularly surprise me.
Unfortunately in most cases, the only place you'll get the kind of transparency you're looking g for are indie or other smaller studios producing smaller games. There are of course exceptions, buttypically speaking as developers get into larger and more expensive development, their openness tends to decrease.
