Before I go to my main point I just want to say that I am usually one of those people who would prefer CCP to stay quiet and just finish their work. That way when they do finish they will have something concrete to say and show for it. I remember back before Rattati took over that Dust 514 was being hyped a lot but then all that hype turned out to be Ozzy Osborne's Crazy Train (it really did go off the rails) which resulted in a lot of players questioning CCP in many way bad ways.
And it wasn't even on Dust where all of this started. It all started on Eve Online when they introduced the Incarna Expansion. The hype back then turn out to be such a major let down that approximately 1,000 players unsubscribed by the end of that month which resulted in CCP having to lay out a chunk of their staff. This event invariably had a negative impact on both World of Darkness and Dust 514 development.
As a result there are now players like me who feel that CCP should just keep quiet until they actually have something to show for it. They said they were developing Project Nova and they gave playable demos running on Steam through a server located in Germany to prove it which is a big positive step. And it turned out to have a very stable gameplay experience according to the players who attended Fanfest 2016 which finally lends credibility to CCP's claim that they are working on making the game as stable as possible first before anything else.
Unfortunately I have to face a certain reality which is that not everyone here has my level of patience. If I have to compromise with those people, I would say that perhaps CCP could show us a screenshot of something even if it is strictly a work in progress and that it may or may not be the final look and feel. I remember back when CCP Devs were actively talking to us immediately after Project Legion was announced back in 2014. CCP MC Peanut was one notable Dev who showed us actual videos showing us remarkable progress on the Heads Up Display (HUD) of a mercenary which turned out to be much more optimized and fluid than what Dust had. Showing actual work even if it is incomplete helped restore some hope for the players at that time.
But it was too bad that hope was short lived when the few months of CCP activity was later followed by permanent silence on Project Legion. We never heard a word since then. At first I was thinking that perhaps they are just being quiet because they were too busy making Legion a reality. But as 2014 and 2015 came to a close, I was having to come to grips with the possibility that CCP has practically abandoned Legion. That possibility turned out to be reality when Project Nova was announced. By that time many players who had similar hopes for Legion practically gave up.
Moral of the story here:
CCP can only stay quiet for so long before players start to suspect that Project Nova will go the way of Project Legion. So perhaps it's a good idea to show us a little bit of something every now and then to keep hope up.

I think DUST and Nova are off of most peoples radar right now, really its an extremely tiny minority that cares enough to ask more than once or twice.
It will arrive when it arrives or it will get shut down like CCPs more recent projects, either case there's a ton of good games out there so it doesn't really matter either way.

You act pessimistic, but I can see your true colors. Your still here, along with maybe 20 other active members like me and maken. And probably another 100 or so lurkers. Don't worry, it's obvious they haven't given up on a new Eden fps. If this game comes to fruition, you and I along with all the other lurkers here will form a Corp in the new game and be unbeatable. We will dominate the world!

I put too much time and energy into this game to give it up, even if I want to throw into the fires of Mount Doom most days.
I just mean that I'm expecting it to get shut down and fade into further obscurity, and if it happens to make it through with vehicles then I will be excited to play once again.

Well , just found out that they are bunkering in for a good while developing Project Nova. A green light looks more then promising . So i expect them to give us the silent treatment for a while . Even though there are now so many gaming companies trying to mimic Dust514 and its loadout tree and progression tree etc . I'll return to my 1200 year slumber in suspended animation 07 cheers

Fair point. Though Im guessing even with EVE integration, awful game engine is still awful.

Not dissing Dust Fiend or anything but Dust Fiend does this all the time. Makes a big fuss about it as if he is done with CCP but if Nova went gold and released a month later, he would be all over the product

I just canceled my last EVE subscription. All my EVE character was doing was supporting my DUST Corp anyway. I have taken to running in the morning to fill the time when I used to play DUST. I have not played another video game since DUST was shut down.
I understand CCP not wanting to announce much this early in development of Nova, but I agree with the apple that they should at least tantalize us with bits and pieces from Nova development. Maybe a "Screen shot of the day" or something. Just to keep their most hard core fans entertain while we hang out here.

I'm still playing Eve Online mainly because I often enjoy getting involved in industry. But that doesn't mean I don't have inactive characters though. My Eve Alt which I named Rin Vocaloid2 is the character I often used to communicate with Dust players via the Eve-side mail system. But now that Dust 514 is officially shut down my Alt is now just sitting there waiting for Project Nova to be greenlit. Assuming of course Eve players can one day rejoin Dust corps like we did before. The infrastructure is already there in Eve Online.

Agreed on the corp infrastructure part. I don't mind if they do not have much, if any, EVE integration at the start. Game design wise its a lot easier.
However, I feel they should build corps from the ground up as being EVE / Nova / Whatever, and allow players on ANY New Eden game to add players from any other game to contacts. This is because it allows that social communication factor that is so critical for the types of games CCP creates.
Take a look at Blizzard and their Battle Net system. It is possible once friends have been added to that to talk to them across multiple games, and even talk to them if only the Bnet client is up. This effectively allows friends to talk together through their system even if they are playing different games, or even if they just have the client up.
New Eden is all about it's social component. Facilitating that should always be a goal of any design feature, even if those features are on different games.

There's a difference, though, in a blow by blow monthly report on actual development and "Hey, look at this new trailer we made of stuff we thought would be cool to do one day."
One presentation was drawings on notebook paper for cryin' out loud!
CCP logic GÇô NOVA isn't an actual product. It is only a project. We might not do it at all.
