Right now I'm leaning toward CONCORD deciding to crack down on immortal soldier deployment because of the chaotic state of Molden Heath under our "supervision".
I'd love it if we could get a Scope News report but could we please at least get an EVE News post? Don't make us just quietly fade into the dark after all this time.

After all the blood we've shed for New Eden, a footnote in the lives of capsules discussing our temporary absence is the least you could do. After all the lives we lost on Caldari Prime, all the suffering we endured during HethGÇÖs purge, and all the planets we burned in Molden Heth, we deserve so much more. But at this point, I'd settle for a simple news report.
DUST has always been weak in regards to lore and immersion supoort, which is why me and several of my friends on this forum have attempted to push for some sort of DUST/NOVA based ISD. The insult that is the world's silence on our departure just proves the necessary of such an organization.

Simply put, foot soliders are not worth the ISK that they're paid. for the price of 16 mercanaries' in a battle, you can have a capsuleer go and cover the planet in a rain of bullets that will wipe everything from existance, leaving the planet in a primal state.
"But Emm Kay, what if the faction wants the building in tact?"
It wouldn't matter. In New eden, there are almost 20,000 planets, and (nearly) every one of them can have the empires sucking them dry for resources. It's cheaper to build anew than to defend a facility.
There is a reason you never see me in battle.

That doesn't work that way. If you adopt a scorched earth policy with every planet owned by a hostile party there'd be no natural resources left to use for orbital structure fuel, which is the primary use for planets.

Seriously though, I posted a few times about Concord preventing capsle toons from having access to Mercs as a safety net for the 4 empires. That's why the Amarr Queen died she was pushing the clones out.

Come on, CCP, just give us a fitting end! I'd even settle for the ticker on the bottom of those Scope reports!
Just give us something. I'm honestly going to be sad if I get online after the shutdown and somehow New Eden didn't notice. For all the claims of Dust 514 having an influence on New Eden and then seeing bits of that influence in action while hoping for more for years, having the game just go away with no mention whatsoever would feel like a kick in the gut.

You're not fading into the dark.
While for the time being, there's no PLAYER cloned mercs deployed in New Eden, all the DUST NPC corporations will continue to operate in an in world sense, in terms of backstory.
Question is whether you're ready to become part of a new breed of immortals when Project Nova becomes available?

When you and CCP Rattati were talking about starting as a generic non-faction character in Project Nova, I had a feeling that was because we'd be starting as members of Arkombine as part of some kind of Upwell Consortium security initiative.
I hope I'm right!

Join EVE, Valkyrie, Gunjack and Nova under a single "New Eden" subscription, where character can either be used in multiple games, or the account can have up to three characters for each game (to save your money, maybe limit an account to 6 characters total). |

I appreciate the dev response, but having absolutely no in game lore to back up this change or even reference it still feels like an insult. It really wouldn't be too hard to have a small mention in the bottom of a Scope news report "peace talks continue following an escalation in fighting, and eventual ceasefire among planetary forces in Molden Heath." Or something along those lines.

Frame said himself that only the players of DUST will no longer be there; the corporations will continue fighting on the ground in the lore sense as always. We just won't be players in it anymore.

Well what he means is that Molden Heath was given to us by the Republic to police, and the state of that region has been anything but peaceful since they did so. It would make sense that they might reconsider their original proposal.
What we're more talking about is some mention of independent clone soldier activity being suspended. As Frame said, all other immortal soldiers are affiliated with established Corporations.

Yes, and it's critical to the lore of today's state of dust. CONCORD officially determined that the only way this agreement in Molden Heath would work is if they maintained the status quo without mercenaries ever gaining or losing any more power than they have, hence the absolute stagnation we've seen in recent years.
