Aeon Amadi wrote:Everyone who played Nova loved it Everyone who -didn't- play Nova instantly went into a hilarious assault on how it is bland, mediocre, and CCP is the devil because of lacking features. For shame. It should improve a bit once more people read the articles where Rattati clearly states that the demo contained core game mechanics only, and all the MMO stuff has yet to be added. The demo is only meant to show that combat is smooth and enjoyable. If you want to mess with fittings, wait for the Alpha or Bata (depending on how well connected you are).

Takahiro Kashuken wrote:Did not play it and it did not look impressive.
Features lacking, dumbing down of the game in general and across the board, bland and very very vauge statements from CCP devs about how its moving towards x and we will do y and i have already heard it all before years ago.
Hilmar looked bored when announcing it and also mentioned about how they will axe failing projects and not drag them on like they have done before and what is Nova? a project, not even greenlit and can be axed at any moment.
But pretty graphics you will say and gameplay>graphics, i would play minecraft graphics if its good, MAG example
But you will say but its mechanics are better for an FPS now which frankly on UE4 it should be but then they are other problems such as the dumbing down of the game which will make the gameplay a poor experience, jump jets because gotta attract that COD crowd, bloody screen so real!!!, no real evidence of an MMO experience being delivered or even that vehicles will be brought back in and don't forget about cheaters on PC. MGO3 prime example of good mechanics but very **** gameplay.
But its on PC now!!! yes and still only going to be 16v16 on a more powerful platform, i might aswell play BF4.
It is deja vu all over again, they may get a second chance from CCP but this time actions have to speak. And post #6 proves the OP's point.
Keep in mind they are not even in Alpha yet. Unlike Project Legion, Nova has gotten as far as actually being playable at FanFest, but they have been working on it less than 6 months, so what do you expect?
Not sure what you mean by Dumbed down. Do you mean because on day one you only get access to 6 to 8 pre-made fits? You do know that you will be able to switch items on fits once you unlock those items right? As I understand it, Nova vets will have the same fitting freedom that DUST vets had, once they have played long enough to unlock all the weapons/equipment/modules they want to use.

Bright Cloud wrote:A interesting corelation: People that played Nova are CCP fanboys cause ya know Eve fanfest. So everything that gets presented there only gets praise by CCP fanboys. Everybody who gives negative comments probs has more experience in the FPS gaming scene then 95% of the eve players who like to mine in a spaceship and watch MLP on their browser at the same time. A valid point as long as you are criticizing what you are seeing in the the video footage of people playing the demo.
If you are criticizing what you are not seeing in the demo footage, then let us reiterate that this is a very early build and most everything that does not relate directly to combat has not been added yet.

Alena Asakura wrote:The jump jets alone turn me off. I hate that puerile stuff. But it's the sort of thing the 12 year olds like so I guess it has to be there. The way I look at jump jets is to ask myself:
1) Do they make sense for the technology level of the game setting?
2) Do they have a tactical benefit?
For Nova I would have to answer "yes" to both of these questions, so I don't have a problem with jump jets from a Lore perspective.
Then I ask myself, are jump jets game breaking? Well, I did not find that killing the Tiggers was an insurmountable challenge in DUST, and I get the impression that the Jump Jets of Nova are considerably scaled back from the passive modules we had in DUST. Did I hear mention of a cooldown or something?
As I understand it, even Heavies have the ability to volt over rails or boxes in Nova, so at least in Nova we will not be forced into Jump Jets as a necessity for mobility.
I think the use of Jump Jets will be less prevalent in Nova, but as you say the kids like them, and they give a tactical advantage with certain weapons and for attaining high ground, so they will have their place. It is just one more tactical consideration, like the cloak.
