For shame. There are those of us for whom the basic premise of the game itself is a problem. Plus the fact that CCP have seen fit not to make this demo available generally, and probably won't even after Dust shuts down.
There are plenty of reasons for people who haven't played it not to like it. If CCP wants more people to like it, they'd better get the alpha out as fast as possible. |

Features lacking, dumbing down of the game in general and across the board, bland and very very vauge statements from CCP devs about how its moving towards x and we will do y and i have already heard it all before years ago.
Hilmar looked bored when announcing it and also mentioned about how they will axe failing projects and not drag them on like they have done before and what is Nova? a project, not even greenlit and can be axed at any moment.
But pretty graphics you will say and gameplay>graphics, i would play minecraft graphics if its good, MAG example
But you will say but its mechanics are better for an FPS now which frankly on UE4 it should be but then they are other problems such as the dumbing down of the game which will make the gameplay a poor experience, jump jets because gotta attract that COD crowd, bloody screen so real!!!, no real evidence of an MMO experience being delivered or even that vehicles will be brought back in and don't forget about cheaters on PC. MGO3 prime example of good mechanics but very **** gameplay.
But its on PC now!!! yes and still only going to be 16v16 on a more powerful platform, i might aswell play BF4.
It is deja vu all over again, they may get a second chance from CCP but this time actions have to speak. The jump jets alone turn me off. I hate that puerile stuff. But it's the sort of thing the 12 year olds like so I guess it has to be there. |

Whenever I read that, I turn off the game even more. It should not be a FPS first and foremost. Dust wasn't, why should this be? In any case, to my mind, it should be something a helluva lot more than just another FPS.

For shame. Not to counter or nitpicking, but the environment says a lot. Big convention, lots of people, other side of the world, something can go to people's heads fairly effectively. I mean, DUST had the same reviews from people who played it originally other than "ewww, consoles!" And "everyone who didn't play it [bitched]" assumes that everyone who didn't play it only has negative views or even have criticisms/concerns that are unjustified. And don't forget that this demo was probably running on servers in the next room, so there would have been no lag. When the alpha comes out, we get to see what lag does to the game.... |

Heimdallr69 wrote:Heh, these people...they'd rather the game get axed so we can't have fun, probably non PC players anyways Personally, yes, I'd rather see it axed if they can't get the EvE connection and MMO elements right. I'm an EvE player and can't see the point in just another FPS unless there's an EvE integration. There are plenty of FPSs out there that people can play. If they aren't going to make this one different, why have it? |

Yeah dust started off with all vehicles and lav's/dropships since its demo oh and drop suits and weapons No, dust started off as being the ground-based extension of EvE. All the other stuff is how it evolved because they watered it down for PS3.
By the way, I don't dislike the FPS side of it, it's just that it should not be the main thing, "first and foremost". If it is, then it's not for me. |

Game was running a dedicated server, not a LAN setup. Sorry to break your heart :P Proves nothing. The dedicated server was probably still only a few milliseconds away. Network lag occurs when people on different sides of the world try to play against each other over the internet. |

I'm fully convinced that there is literally nothing that would make the Dust 514 community happy and for that reason I'm all but prepared to simply not care about the constant barrage of pessimism. It'd be one thing if there were some nuggets of constructive criticism and positive vibes, but it is literally just bitching about what all the gameplay wasn't and the experiences they had from devs who are no longer even at CCP.
-Shrug- Some people just want to be unhappy.
Wrong. I would be quite happy if they delivered what we were originally told we would get - open battles, not just the 16v16 lobby shooter style that we have now, true integration with EvE, so that we can have battles both on the ground and in space.
All of this is achievable, but CCP doesn't want to do this because the current format the game has evolved into is what people now like more. It wouldn't be "too hard" but it would be too unpopular. That's why I don't think CCP will actually do this. |
