When i try to use my knife when someone gets to close it never hits them i run up as close as possible but it will not cut them for any reason whats so ever. has anyone else been able to use the knife in combat yet. |

have you tried sharpening it? lol it's been like this since the beta came out, I have been playing for at least a month and probably have about 5 knife kills. |

I agree. Even if you get a knife hit the shields and armor of most players is enough to counter it. Because there isn't additional blade equipment and because of the pace of dust, and the difficulty of getting a knife hit to register Ii decided early on not eBen to bother. A good smg works better. |

yea i know right it just i hate it when i turn around and see someone right next to me and i try to use my knife and it doesnt even hit them |

You also need to upgrade your melee damage.. there's a reason that skill exists.. (there's also a booster that will give you 50% extra damage) |

The knife can be massively upgraded.

I believe that knives are actually shoulder-mounted, and you must shoulder-bump a target to hurt it.
I mean, seriously, if it was in the hand like the animation shows, it'd have 3-5x the range it now has... |

It was more of "oh darn, take this you big meanie!"
I ran to that heavy when I turned from a corner and accidentally pressed the knifing nipple instead on running.  |

Rofl.. I stopped using the knife after I snuck up on the scout suit, knifed him twice before he even turned around and he still had 60% shields.. at which point he got up and it took me 3 clips from my SMG to get him dead. (that was the old hit detection though) |

I mostly use my knife on turret gunners. Militia assault is usually three swipes, the scout is usually 2 (135 damage per swipe). I've gotten a handful of kills with the knife even when in a head on fight.
I've also gotten into a literal knife fight between myself and 2 other players. They ended up backing me into a corner where they gutted me good. It was the most fun I've had yet on this game. Mainly because the three of us apparently decided to just start knifing instead of firing. Epic |
